Country Heat 2007 album
$15.25 After the dark and chilling themes of 2006's BLACK CADILLAC, which saw Rosanne Cash dealing with the deaths of her mother, Vivian Liberto, her father, Johnny Cash, and her stepmother, June Carter Cash -- all of whom passed within a two-year span -- one might assume that her next project would move into an even deeper level of bleakness, but with THE LIST, it's immediately clear that she has instead found a more measured place to stand. It's a lovely and redemptive outing that looks back to go forward. When Cash turned 18, her father, alarmed that his daughter only knew the songs that were getting played on the radio, gave her a list of what he considered 100 essential American songs; Cash kept that list, and now she's drawn on it for this wonderfully nuanced outing that brims with a kind of redemptive timelessness. THE LIST is a renewal and a testament to life, and it belongs to her father as much as it belongs to her, a beautiful restatement of her father's passions, only now, they've become his daughter's ...

Country Heat 2007 CD music
$13.29 An American saturday night is not an unusual topic for a country song but Brad Paisley's celebration is. Paisley sees a typical weekend night as a cultural collision of French kisses, Italian Ices, Canadian bacon and margaritas, a place where Mexican and Dutch beers chill side by side in a bucket of ice. ...

| | Si Kahn Been A Long Time CD (2000)
Country Heat 2007 album
$15.75 This is Si Kahn's first album in six years, so Been a Long Time seems an appropriate title. His style of political folk hasn't changed though, and his new label, Sliced Bread, seems a perfect fit. Kahn's themes circle around unfairness ("Houses on the Hill") and social injustice ("Brown Lung Blues"), and evoke a Depression-era feel. "Just a Lie" is one of the most memorable songs on the album, filled with cutting lyrics delivered to the rhythm of an old-time banjo. Kahn implores to those who believe that going back to an earlier time will solve their problems too: "Tip your hat/wave goodbye/good old days/is just a lie." There are also songs that look at growing up in rural America, including the title track and "Grandma." Both of these songs celebrate the memories of a grandparent, the stories they told, and of how they remain with one even after death. All of these cuts are aided by a strong supporting cast including Laurie ...

$18.99 "CEDAR HILLS "Poverty Row" is a project of new material and new musicians, yet created in the template of tradition! They mix the new with the old in a way that transforms CEDAR HILL into a new generation. With new faces equating into new exciting sounds. Frank Ray is the bandleader and founding member. He penned the large majority of the songs. One of country music's most awarded artists Vince Gill was so impressed with Frank's writing and the group's sound, he lent his voice to a duet with the band's lead singer & fiddler, Lisa Ray. Lisa's voice is sweet yet sincere. She sings the perfect interpretation of the lyrics purposely penned for "Poverty Row". Lisa shares the vocal leads with new member Rob Collins. Rob sings the Red Allen bluegrass standard, "Love Gone Cold", along with ...
