Bass Temperature album
$15.98 Number Ones replaces Design of a Decade, released 14 years prior. Excepting the new song "Make Me" (hard neo-disco/funk excellence), each song here was indeed a number one hit on Billboard's various charts, though "Got 'Til It's Gone" sneaks through a side door via the Japanese ...

| | Barry White All-Time Greatest Hits CD (1995)
Bass Temperature album
$11.99 Barry White's ALL-TIME GREATEST HITS contains the original single versions of his classic solo hits, as well as two songs White performed as the lead vocalist of the Love Unlimited Orchestra. All tracks were previously released on the 20th Century Records label.
All tracks digitally remastered by Gary Mayo (Polygram Studios).
It took quite a while for a definitive Barry White compilation to hit the market, but All-Time Greatest Hits -- part of Mercury's Funk Essentials series -- finally filled the bill in 1995. Boasting a full 20 tracks from White's heyday of 1973-1978, more than half of which made the R&B Top Ten, All-Time Greatest Hits is easily the most generous single-disc White collection on the market. It includes the edited single versions, not the full-length album tracks, which actually makes for a more digestible introduction to White's achievements. Like his forebear Isaac Hayes, White was not just a deep-voiced crooner, but a talented producer and arranger who'd spent years honing his craft behind the scenes ...
| | Best Of Sade CD (1994)
Bass Temperature CD music
$9.59 Digitally remastered by Tom Coyne (Sterling Sound, New York, New York).
Nigerian vocalist Sade Adu has carved out a cosmpolitan niche for herself over the past decade, gathering together elements of cool jazz, samba, reggae, funk and pop all under the pastoral umbrella of her suede-and-velvet voice. A pop stylist with a musical universe all her own, Sade has endured and matured over the past decade, seemingly unaffected by changes in taste and fashion--a movement unto herself.
As her most recent single (Percy Mayfield's "Please Send Me Someone To Love" from the PHILADELPHIA soundtrack) illustrates, Sade's coy caressing voice speaks more of commitment and trust, of relationships in flux ("Nothing Can Come Between Us") than of the heat of the moment: from ...
| | Kruder & Dorfmeister K&D Sessions CDs (1998) (Import) Germany
Bass Temperature music CDs
$13.69 Viennese beatsmiths Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister prove themselves to be DJs with a difference on this stellar double-disc set. Instead of simply stringing together favorite tunes of the moment, K&D assemble something much more permanent and notable by gathering their own remixes for both well-known artists (Depeche Mode, Bone Thugs 'N Harmony, Roni Size, Bomb The Bass) and European cult acts (Rainer Trnby Trio, Count Basic, Knowtoryous, Sofa Surfers, Mama Oliver). The unifying thread can be called the K&D sound--a playfully off-beat and bass-heavy funk so singular ...
| | Gigi D'Agostino Techno Fes V.2 CD (2000)
Bass Temperature songs
$15.89 Italian dance superstar Gigi d'Agostino didn't become famous in his home country for being innovative, something that becomes quite evident when you sit down and listen to Tecno Fes, Vol. 2 all the way through. After hearing a few of the songs on this album, you'll start to notice the reoccurring motifs. In particular, d'Agostino takes the synthesizer riffs and melodies of late-'90s trance and synthesizes them with the sort of singalong vocoder vocals that Daft Punk made internationally popular on songs like "Around the World" and "One More Time." This becomes most evident on a song like "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)," a remake of the 1985 new wave/Hi-NRG international hit by Dead or Alive. In terms of substance, d'Agostino's cover is a straightforward pop song with a big singalong hook; however, in terms of style, it's a flashy, glamorous trance song intended to sound great on gigantic danceclub sound systems. Another of the more overtly pop songs on this album is "La Passion," arguably the album's other highlight. Overall, this is great mass-market, entry-level dance music for those interested in Euro trance. Anyone who has been around the block, however, will probably find this to be too derivative and obvious. ~ Jason Birchmeier

| | Robert Plant Dreamland CD (2002) Bonus Track
Bass Temperature CD music
$10.59 While there's nothing particularly retro about the proceedings on DREAMLAND, Robert Plant's first solo album of the 21st century finds him reaching back to his roots. This entails not so much a return to the turbo-blues bombast of Led Zeppelin, but a look even further back to the country blues that inspired the young, pre-Zep Plant, and to the kind of psych-folk troubadours whose magic filled the air when "Stairway to Heaven" was just a gleam in Jimmy Page's eye.
Towards this end, Plant deconstructs/reconstructs old blues tunes such as "Fixin' To Die" and "Win My Train Fare Home" as well as tackling material by the likes of Tim Buckley (the shimmering "Song to the Siren," Skip Spence (the Moby Grape-era "Skip's Song"), and Bob Dylan (a Middle Eastern-tinged take on "One More Cup of Coffee"). Though most ...
