On his second full-length, BARR--a pseudonym belonging to one Brendan Fowler--revisits many of the same ideas that made his debut BEYOND REINFORCED JEWEL CASE a weirdo's delight. Like the chatterbox at an acid test, BARR lays neurotic, stream-of-consciousness ... Full Descriptionwordplay--don't call them raps--over oddly conceived, slack rhythm loops. By finding a core sexuality in dead pan humor and nerdy microphone ramblings, BARR comes off as something of a Generation-Y answer to Stephen Malkmus. The Wire (p.63) - "Half-sung, half-spoken, but always heartfelt, raw and honest....Fowler delivers essays and epiphanies on the fracture lines and foibles of urban middle youth." Purchase Summary CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Chickenfoot CD (2009) Digipak
Summary album
$11.17 In true old-school "supergroup" fashion, Chickenfoot is a hard-rock dream team. Composed of vocalist Sammy Hagar (Montrose, Van Halen), bassist Michael Anthony (Van Halen), drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani, the combo grew out of a few impromptu jams, but the combination was judged strong enough to record an album and go on tour. The resulting disc is a full-throttle, unapologetic ...
| | Linda Ronstadt Heart Like A Wheel CD (1996) Gold; Remastered
Summary CD music
$25.15 There are just no two ways about it: if you call yourself a fan of '70s music, you simply must have Linda Ronstadt's HEART LIKE A WHEEL. Like Fleetwood Mac's RUMOURS and The Eagles HOTEL CALIFORNIA, this is a masterpiece that has earned a spot in every record collection that's worth its salt. Ronstadt, the '70s queen of southern California country-rock, is in pristine form. Her angelic voice is flawless as each track flows from one to the other like a gentle stream.
Not only do you get the hit "You're No Good" and the Everly Brothers' classic "When Will I Be Loved," but the sorrowful title track and Hank Williams' "I Can't Help It (If I'm Still In Love With You)" give testament to Ronstadt's legendary feel for driving the emotion home. What's more, if the powerful "Willing" doesn't have you longing for the days of bell bottoms and bandanas, you just aren't feeling it. With production by Peter Asher and guests like Emmylou Harris, Maria Muldaur, J.D. Souther and most of the aforementioned Eagles, Ronstadt crafted a magnificent blend of country, rock and folk that is among the greatest records made in a generation.
Recorded at The Sound Factory, Los Angeles, California. Originally released on Capitol.

| | Rolling Stones Tattoo You CD (1981) Reissue; Remastered
Summary songs
$11.16 After bum-rushing the '80s with EMOTIONAL RESCUE, the Stones released TATTOO YOU, the second half of a potent one-two album punch that showed the band asserting themselves as they entered their third decade of music-making. Essentially made up of songs dating as far back as 1972 sessions for GOATS HEAD SOUP, the Stones' 1981 release is still a potent slab of swagger and sass. "Hang Fire" is a tight two-minute and twenty second redefinition of surf music, and "Start Me Up" ...
| | Creedence Clearwater Revival Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits CD (1976)
Summary album
$10.85 Digitally remastered by Gary Hobish (1994, Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California).
Guided, perhaps, by musical snobbery or roots-rock phobia, some people inexplicably don't like Creedence Clearwater Revival. As the kings of earnest country-inflected rock in an age when radical stances were de rigueur, CCR sported straight-ahead tunes, and may have seemed a bit unhip. But their music stands the test of time with a vengeance. For the doubtful listener, this outstanding, 20-track hits collection has evidence of their greatness in staggering abundance.
Though they produced several excellent albums, Creedence was predominantly a singles band, and CHRONICLE compiles many of their biggest hits. From the slowly building saunter of "Suzie Q" and the spooky, R&B-soaked "I Put a Spell on You" to the fierce "Fortunate Son" and the swampy blues of "Run Through the Jungle," CHRONICLE features the ensemble's signature tunes. Beautifully melancholy songs "Who'll Stop the Rain" and "Someday Never Comes" play off sunny, melodic anthems "Down on the Corner" and "Lookin' Out My Back Door," fully revealing the band's wide range. The group's tight, no-frills musicianship leaves John Fogerty's keening voice and superb songwriting at the fore, and the results--brought together here on one of rock's best greatest-hits packages--make for some of the genre's most endearing ...

Summary CD music
$16.05 Recorded between 1974 & 1997. Includes liner notes by Jim Jenkins, Jacky Smith, Andy Davis, Phil Symes.
With Queen officially enshrined in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, Hollywood Records reintroduces the band yet again with the release of GREATEST HITS I, II & III. While Volumes I and II are full of Queen classics you already know by heart, the third cobbles together odds and sods from the far corners of Queen's canon along with solo cuts from Freddie Mercury and Brian May.
Opening with the operatic rock classic "Bohemian Rhapsody," it's easy to hear not only how this British quartet achieved the kind of global acclaim that ensured they'd be enshrined alongside the ...
