Cypher was founded in spring 2002 by T (vox, guitars) and Sander (guitars). The name "Cypher" alludes to a loss of individuality, self and identity, a theme pervading Cypher's 2003 "Forward Devolution" promo, with song titles as "Statues of Flesh", "Force Fed Hate" and "Forward Devolution" . Furthermore, the band's name adverts to concealed meanings in both lyrics and music. Numerous reviews in the media were very positive, many predicting a record deal. The line-up was completed in 2004, when Frank joined the band on drums:T : vox, guitarsSander : guitarsPioko : bassFrank : drumsIn October 2006 Cypher released their debut album "Darkday Carnival", an album that explores the darker side of the human condition, lyrics masked by more than 2000 years of deceit and corruption, musically progressing towards a more intricate and dynamic style without losing their brutal, relentless edge. Darkday Carnival: Pervaded with sickness, perverted with corruption and depraved by immorality, a true sonic blow to the soul... You've all heard bands like In Flames, Slayer, Morbid Angel and Testament, but wait 'til you hear this album! Cypher Darkday Carnival Songs | 1. | Fortune My Foe |

Darkday Carnival album
$12.79 This album is a sort of summit conference of underground heavy music. Guitarists and vocalists Scott "Wino" Weinrich (the Obsessed, Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan, the Hidden Hand) and Scott Kelly of Neurosis are grizzled veterans whose hoarse, guttural shouts and instantly recognizable, distorted guitar tones carry the authority of years of hard touring and introspective yet still crushing rock, while bassist Al Cisneros (Sleep, Om) and Melvins drummer Dale Crover shake the earth with their gigantic rhythms. The five tracks were ...

$7.85 Digitally remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio at Sterling Sound, New York, New York.
Before DESTROYER, Kiss' studio albums were only moderate sellers. But the band's concerts were selling out regularly, and 1975's ALIVE! album had gone gold, putting Kiss on the pop map. DESTROYER, on which they teamed with Alice Cooper producer Bob Ezrin, was the breakthrough that finally got Kiss' grandiose rock ideas down on record.
DESTROYER is a chancy, ambitious album. It opens with a ...

| | Linkin Park Hybrid Theory CD (2000)
Darkday Carnival album
$12.85 "Crawling" won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.
Linkin Park's mixture of metal, industrial rock, and rap fits comfortably into the niche created by the likes of Kid Rock, Korn, and Limp Bizkit. The opening "Papercut" is every bit as angular and unavoidable as its title. "With You" opens with electronic squeaks and squiggles before leaping into a mix of heavy guitar riffs and hip-hop rhythms. "Crawling" bears a largely subdued tone and atmospheric synth coloring that provides a respite from the crushing riffs and grinding rhythms that typify HYBRID THEORY, but even this relatively sedate song is full of tension and sonic angst. The five young men of Linkin Park are on a mission to communicate their inner turmoil ...

| | Louis Hayes Dreamin' Of Cannonball CD (2002)
Darkday Carnival songs
$13.15 Louis Hayes & the Cannonball Legacy Band pay tribute to the drummer's late employer by exploring a number of songs that he recorded while working with Cannonball Adderley. The veteran is in great form, joined by alto saxophonist Vincent Herring, trumpeter Jeremy Pelt, pianist Rick Germanson, and bassist Vicente Archer. The music doesn't focus on any one edition of Adderley's band, but delves into music the alto saxophonist recorded during the early '60s. Hayes' crop of Young Lions opens with an explosive take of "What Is This Thing Called Love?," delves with gusto into Bobby Timmons' soul-jazz hit "Dat Dere" and Nat Adderley's spiritual-flavored "Work Song," and delivers a playful performance of "Fiddler on the Roof," the latter tune showcasing the leader's effective solo. No effort is made to mimic Adderley's style or the sidemen ...
| | Tool 10,000 Days CD (2006)
Darkday Carnival album
$11.75 To its legion of fans, everything the band Tool does is an event, but the elaborate plan behind their sporadic release schedule--roughly five years, on average, between albums--is due primarily to the time and effort the band packs into each successive effort. To title their fourth album 10,000 DAYS, then, isn't as much an exaggeration as it would seem. Tool are America's most consummate mainstream perfectionists, revitalizing progressive rock to the grandeur of its '70s heyday, but updated with technocratic tension and existential dread not known to previous generations. Perhaps it's the development of more musical genres at the turn of the millennium, but it's also Tool's ability to take what is needed from each and leave the florid excesses behind, forming a seething gray core ...
