Cypher was founded in spring 2002 by T (vox, guitars) and Sander (guitars). The name "Cypher" alludes to a loss of individuality, self and identity, a theme pervading Cypher's 2003 "Forward Devolution" promo, with song titles as "Statues of Flesh", "Force Fed Hate" and "Forward Devolution" . Furthermore, the band's name adverts to concealed meanings in both lyrics and music.Numerous reviews in the media were very positive, many predicting a record deal. The line-up was completed in 2004, when Frank joined the band on drums:T : vox, guitarsSander : guitarsPioko : bassFrank : drumsIn October 2006 Cypher released their debut album "Darkday Carnival", an album that explores the darker side of the human condition, lyrics masked by more than 2000 years of deceit and corruption, musically progressing towards a more intricate and dynamic style without losing their brutal, relentless edge.Darkday Carnival: Pervaded with sickness, perverted with corruption and depraved by immorality, a true sonic blow to the soul... You've all heard bands like In Flames, Slayer, Morbid Angel and Testament, but wait 'til you hear this album! Darkday Carnival
$5.99 Despite recording two hit studio albums with Black Sabbath (1980's HEAVEN AND HELL and 1981's THE MOB RULES) and playing throughout the world to huge crowds, Ronnie James Dio left the band in 1982-the year of his final release with Sabbath, the in-concert LIVE EVIL. As soon as the announcement of his departure was made official, Dio began to put together his first solo project. Joining him were former Rainbow bandmate Jimmy Bain on bass, former Sabbath bandmate Vinny Appice on drums, ex-Sweet Savage guitar hero Vivian Campbell, and newcomer Claude Schnell on keyboards.
HOLY DIVER, Dio's band debut, was issued in 1983. The album quickly became a favorite among headbangers worldwide and eventually earned the group platinum certification. The somewhat upbeat sounding ...
| | Kiss Creatures Of The Night CD (1982)
Darkday Carnival
$6.49 On the heels of the unusual MUSIC FROM THE ELDER, Kiss decided to return to their hard rock roots with CREATURES and the result is their heaviest-sounding album to date. Unfortunately, Ace Frehley (frustrated by his diminishing role in the group) departed the band prior to recording. He was replaced by Vinnie Vincent, who contributed some lightning-fast riffs.
From the monstrous drum fill that opens the record, it is clear that the grease painted warriors mean business. The title track is a classic Kiss number with a "take no prisoners" punch. "Rock And Roll Hell" is a tale of a musician's excessive lifestyle (loosely based on Frehley). "I Love It Loud" is a Kiss anthem for the ages, with a pounding drumbeat and a sing-along chorus that had 200,000 Brazilians screaming in unison on the CREATURES tour. "I Still Love You" is a powerful, emotional ballad featuring Eric Carr on bass. "War Machine" closes the album and is Gene Simmons ...
| | Converge Axe To Fall CD (2009) Digipak
Darkday Carnival
$12.78 Converge's eighth studio album is packed with guest performances by kindred spirits from Massachusetts and beyond. "Effigy," one of four songs on the album that comes in under the two-minute mark, features Steve Brodsky and Adam McGrath of Cave In on guitar and that group's drummer, J.R. Conners, behind the kit. Uffe Cederlund of Disfear takes over lead guitar on "Wishing Well," while Steve Von Till of Neurosis sings on "Cruel Bloom" and Genghis Tron' Mookie Singerman does guest vocals on the seven-minute album closer, "Wretched World." But it's ...

Darkday Carnival
$11.19 "Holy WarsąThe Punishment Due" is an absolutely crushing opener that shows off the technical expertise of the musicians, while "Hangar 18" covers the familiar ground of alien visitation and government conspiracy. Both videos were put in heavy rotation on MTV's Headbanger's Ball program, which helped land the band a spot on the successful heavy ...

Darkday Carnival
$13.29 To its legion of fans, everything the band Tool does is an event, but the elaborate plan behind their sporadic release schedule--roughly five years, on average, between albums--is due primarily to the time and effort the band packs into each successive effort. To title their fourth album 10,000 DAYS, then, isn't as much an exaggeration as it would seem. Tool are America's most consummate mainstream perfectionists, revitalizing progressive rock to the grandeur of its '70s heyday, but updated with technocratic tension and existential dread not known to previous generations. Perhaps it's the development of more musical genres at the turn of the millennium, but it's also Tool's ability to take what is needed from each and leave the florid excesses behind, forming a seething gray ...
