(1 Customer Review)
Issued in early 2007, this EP by the Los Angeles-based alternative-rock band Manic serves as a potent sampler of the group's moody sound. While "Chemicals for Criminals" is a full-blown rock tune marked by frontman Paul Gross's expressive shouting, ... Full Description"Mr. Evans" conjures up a much more subdued vibe, revealing a considerable Radiohead influence.
Manic: Paul Gross (vocals, keyboards); Zane Smythe (guitar, keyboards); Tony Hajar, Ryan Green (drums).

Floorboards album
$15.18 MONUMENTS & MELODIES is an elliptical allusion to the hits and highlights contained within this 2009 retrospective, a double-disc set that's separated into a CD of singles and a CD of rarities. The first disc does its job efficiently, running through all but two of Incubus' Billboard hits--the minor mainstream rock radio hits "Circles" and "Make a Move" are missing, but the non-charting single "Are You In?" is in its place--bookended by two strong new Brendan O'Brien productions, "Black Heart Inertia" and "Midnight Swim." The second disc is devoted primarily to B-sides and other stray non-LP tracks, including an acoustic version of "A Certain Shade of Green," a remix of "Pantomime," and a ham-fisted cover of Prince's "Let's Go Crazy," where they get the riff slightly wrong. For the devoted, this disc does provide a nice service ...
| | Best Of The Moody Blues CD (1996)
Floorboards CD music
$12.65 THE BEST OF THE MOODY BLUES contains vintage photographs and a conversation with Justin Hayward.
Recorded between 1964 and 1988. Includes liner notes by John Reed.
By keeping it simple and sticking to the hits, this collection successfully relates the story of this pioneering band. The Moody Blues began as a Gerry & the Pacemakers-like, R&B-influenced band fronted by sad-voiced singer Denny Laine, who is heard here on "Go Now." Laine was replaced by Justin Hayward, keyboardist Mike Pinder brought in a Mellotron, and the band hooked up with the London Symphony Orchestra to make the first orchestral-rock album DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED, ...

| | Axel Rudi Pell Best Of-Anniversary Edition CD (2009) Anniversary Edition
Floorboards CD music
$9.64 For many rock historians, the 1980s officially ended when Nirvana and Pearl Jam were burning up the charts in 1991 and 1992 and major labels started signing alternative rock acts left and right. For some rockers, however, the 1980s never ended--and German guitarist/songwriter Axel Rudi Pell's unwavering commitment to pre-'90s-style metal and hard rock is evident throughout BEST OF AXEL RUDI PELL: ANNIVERSARY EDITION. This 79-minute CD spotlights previously released material from Pell's Johnny Gioeli era; Pell hired Gioeli as his vocalist in 1998, and Gioeli received such a favorable response that Pell was still using him 11 years later in 2009. Although Pell's own songs dominate BEST OF AXEL RUDI PELL, this collection also contains two covers from 2007's DIAMONDS UNLOCKED: Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" and U2's 2000 hit "Beautiful Day," both of which become more hard-rocking in Pell's hands. Although hardly the last word on Pell's solo output of the 1990s and 2000s, BEST OF AXEL RUDI PELL is enthusiastically recommended to casual listeners.
Pell's career began in 1980 with the band, Steeler, who sold over 30,000 copies of their commercially most successful release, Strike Back, and brought out their fourth and final album, Undercover Animal, in 1988. In November of that same year, Pell formed his own group together with J”rg Deisinger (ex-Bonfire), drummer J”rg Michael, bassist Thomas Smuszynski (ex-U.D.O.) and the American vocalist, Charlie ...

Floorboards music CDs
$16.05 This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
Though he continued to evolve throughout his career, Bowie's post-SCARY MONSTERS output was markedly less stellar than his acclaimed '70s work. LET'S DANCE, however, is arguably his most memorable '80s recording. It didn't hurt that he reached out to some talented friends, like Stevie Ray Vaughan (who makes his recorded debut here as lead guitarist) and co-writers Iggy Pop ("China Girl") and Peter Godwin (of "Images of Heaven" fame, who helps out on "Criminal World.") Ultimately, though, it's Bowie's unique vision that makes LET'S DANCE a success. His funky, synth-driven avant-pop romps are shot through with a romance and poignancy ...
