| | Ror-Shak Deep CD Ror-Shak Discography of CDs
While Kosheen took drum'n'bass to the mainstream club and Pendulum twisted it into something approaching fist-pumping, arena rock, Ror-Shak want to become the Zero 7 or Röyksopp of drum'n'bass. Members DJ DB and Shaun Morris bring the genre into the lounge on their debut album, Deep, a laid-back and often spacy effort that works best in the background thanks to some cringe-worthy words. Luckily, these producers have great taste in vocalists with Naked Music veteran Lisa Shaw supplying the soul while David Lynch's muse Julee Cruise supplies the previously mentioned spaciness. Morningwood frontwoman Chantal Claret does an excellent job on this slowly building cover of the Cure's "A Forest," but it's the lesser known Wendy Starland who comes in first with her jazzy, Billie Holiday inspired voice gracing two cuts. Ror-Shak's rich, warm soundscapes and their infectious drum'n'bass rhythms would be just as listenable as instrumentals, so even with all the beautiful voices, Deep would be better off stripped of some hippy, trippy, and trite words. ~ David Jeffries

It's always a sign that a group is hot if they release a holiday album mere months after their debut. That's the case with *NSYNC. Their debut was released in America in late March, and in early December, Home for Christmas hit the shelves. Much of the album is devoted to newer material, with only a handful of songs ...
| | Elvis Presley ELV1S: 30 # 1 Hits CD (2002) Remastered
Deep songs
$10.39 Includes liner notes Peter Guralnick and Ernst Mikael Jorgensen.
Commemorating the 25th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, 30 #1 HITS presents a career-spanning serving of the King's chart-toppers.
Dating back to "Heartbreak Hotel" (which was inspired by a suicide note printed in the Miami Herald), most of these cuts have become indelibly etched into the fabric of pop culture and each has a unique story behind it. "Love Me Tender" has its origins in the Civil War ballad "Aura Lee," "It's Now Or Never" found Elvis Americanizing the Neapolitan ballad "O Sole Mio," and "Wooden Heart" likewise was converted from a German children's song.
This Memphis native's choice of artists to cover was equally intriguing and includes Hollywood legend Al Jolson ("Are You Lonesome Tonight?"), New Orleans soul shouter Smiley Lewis ("One Night"), blues great Big Mama Thornton ("Hound Dog"), and country titan Hank Snow ("[Now And Then There's] A Fool Such As I"). ...

Digitally remastered by George Horn (1995, Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California).
Guided, perhaps, by musical snobbery or roots-rock phobia, some people inexplicably don't like Creedence Clearwater Revival. As the kings of earnest country-inflected rock in an age when radical stances were de rigueur, CCR sported straight-ahead tunes, and may have seemed a bit unhip. But their music stands the test of time with a vengeance. For the doubtful listener, this outstanding, 20-track hits collection has evidence of their greatness in staggering abundance.
Though they produced several excellent albums, Creedence was predominantly a singles band, and CHRONICLE compiles many of their biggest hits. From the slowly building saunter of "Suzie Q" and the spooky, R&B-soaked "I Put a Spell on You" to the fierce "Fortunate ...
