No idea where to stick these guys
But that doesn't change the fact that this is probably one of my favorite albums yet. The combination of latin influence with the irrepresible enthusiasm the music shows makes this a remarkably fun album. Muscially, these guys were very talented, and I really can't quite see why they didn't go further than they did. Although nothing alike in terms of sound, they're up there with the B-52's for just the sheer amount of fun it is in listening to them, for me at least.

One Of The 80's Best
Pelican West is 80's music at it's best. It contains track after track of great songs. The high production values and musicianship from Haircut 100 is top notch. The horn arrangements added that extra zing that set this release apart from similar artists of the day. Haircut 100's performance on VH-1's Bands Reunited, awhile back, proved that they were the real deal, and that all these years later, the songs have not lost their punch.

Perfect pop....perfectly played
Haircut 100 represent a sort of rosetta stone for 1982....they poured out four hit singles over the course of 6 months, did a majot US tour before new wave had become a household word....and then broke up at the height of their breif fame. They were a lot different than most of their electronic counterparts- they had guitars, bongos, horns and a great lead singer...this cd is very cool, it includes their final big UK hit, Nobody's Fool, plus rare US club hits Ski Club and Favourite Shirts..if you want to know what 1982 was all about...Pelican West is your ticket.
