| | Michael Buble It's Time CD (2005) Special Edition
Double Drive CD music
$17.45 Michael Buble's third major US release (including the mostly live COME FLY WITH ME) stays on message--this young Canadian loves the lush, swaying music of his parents' and grandparents' generations. Buble's albums, however, are much more than mere back-in-the-day exercises. The production and arranging of David Foster (Celine Dion, Josh Groban) is eclectic in a way that firmly places the tunes at the dawn of the 21st century, and, more importantly, Buble possesses the chops and sense of style to re-imagine the adult-contemporary vocal genre in a distinctive manner. In addition to standards by Gershwin and Porter, Buble embraces a variety of sounds, from Motown ("How Sweet It Is") to bossa nova ("Quando, Quando, Quando" with Nelly Furtado) to the Beatles ("Can't Buy Me Love" with a "She Loves You" tag). With his smooth croon and charming persona, Buble is a natural performer, and, for fans of fearlessly romantic and infectiously swinging music, IT'S TIME is a sure bet.
Import version of this out-of-print in the US Special Edition. Young crooner Michael Buble delivers an album of love songs as powerful as chocolate and candlelight. From covers such as Ray Charles' You Don't Know Me' to 'Home', penned by Buble and Amy Foster-Gillies, the album is a romantic treat. With total sales of his CDs and DVDs in the U.S. well over 1 million units, plus glowing reviews and standing ovations everywhere, Buble is set for an even bigger and better year. Special Edition has 2 ...

| | Ravi Shankar Improvisations CD (1962)
Double Drive album
$9.05 Ravi Shankar, one of India's greatest performers and its leading musical ambassador, teams up with a mix of Indian and American jazz musicians on this interesting 1962 release. Known for his achievements in pure Indian classical music, Shankar is seen in a thrillingly different light on this early recording. Though Shankar had maintained interest in European and American art forms since roaming with his brother throughout France, sharing the stage with Western jazzmen was quite a departure for the sitar master.
Ultimately, IMPROVISATIONS is a fusion of Eastern virtuosity ...

| | Church Forget Yourself CD (2004) DualDisc
Double Drive album
$15.39 This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other.
Formed in Australia circa 1980, the Church refines its graceful, moody, melodic pop-rock on FORGET YOURSELF, with those close, oddly comforting harmonies and glistening guitars sounding as supple and distinctive as ever in 2004. Three-fourths of the original band remains--bassist Steve Kilbey's pointed, slightly raspy vocals and the sleek, moody guitars of Marty Willson-Piper and Peter Koppes are joined by new drummer/producer Tim Powles. FORGET YOURSELF is a bit darker and more brooding than the Church's emblematic '80s sound, with previous overtones of '60s folk and rock complemented by some progressive/art-rock influences. The hazy "June" recalls both the Syd Barrett daze and the languorous WISH YOU WERE HERE era of Pink Floyd. "Nothing Seeker," with its compelling, mounting tension, and the dreamy, feedback-accented closer "Summer" ...
