War Of Attrition album
$12.35 I REMEMBER MILES won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance.
This stunning album is Shirley Horn's loving tribute to her friend and colleague, the legendary late Miles Davis. Davis was so taken by Horn's first album EMBERS AND ASHES that he forced The Village Vanguard to let her virtually-unknown trio open for him during his 1961 run there. Their friendship and admiration for each other's music lasted through the years, and Shirley Horn's 1991 recording YOU WON'T FORGET ME, was one of the last recordings Miles Davis made.
Horn selected mostly ballads from Davis' Columbia Records catalogue for her tribute because, as she explains in the liner notes, Davis liked her to sing ballads, and ballads are Horn's specialty. She can slow down time in a unique and spellbinding way. Her sultry ...
| | Cannibal Corpse Kill CD (2006)
War Of Attrition CD music
$11.19 One of the most infamous and censored death metal bands ever, Cannibal Corpse celebrates their 10th album with one titular sentiment: KILL. That's pretty much what it does, too. KILL reminds us who put the death in death metal, combining relentless and intense sounds with lyrics that couple Grand Guignol thrills with slasher-film ...

War Of Attrition songs
$49.95 As half of the NYC underground-legend production team DFA, James Murphy was responsible for countless crafty retoolings of late-1970s/early-'80s sounds of the electroclash/post-punk-revival variety. Wearing his "artist" hat under the LCD Soundsystem moniker, Murphy concocted his own minimal-synth club hits, full of both hipster irony ("Losing My Edge") and catchy electro-hooks ("Yeah").

| | Mike Ladd Storm CD (2006)
War Of Attrition songs
$10.15 Mike Ladd has been a strong presence in central Massachusetts for almost thirty years. His completely original style of writing and performing at times defies description, leaving audiences captivated. Ladd’s music weaves aggression and beauty, intensity, and subtlety into a tapestry that has earned the respect and admiration of his peers in the music industry.Mike Ladd’s musical career began in Worcester, Massachusetts during the late ‘70’s. As a founding member of the regionally popular band Chimera, his abilities on guitar and voice won him much acclaim. As the band’s popularity grew, an EP was released in 1985 on the band’s own label called Coming Into Color. An appearance on the television series “Spenser For Hire” elevated Chimera to their height of notoriety and they disbanded in 1987.After backpacking through Mediterranean Europe, Mike Ladd returned in the 1990’s and published The Auricle, an art and poetry magazine showcasing New England artists. In its short life, The Auricle won high praise in cultural circles and was used in public school English curricula. Throughout the decade Ladd was a member of Critics, Cynics, Antagonists; Leslie Buck & the Change; and No We Don’t; as well as writing and performing both solo and with his own ensemble The Ladd Foundation. His first full length CD, The Storm, was critically acclaimed throughout the northeast (see reviews). Produced by Lance Vardis (Rustic Overtones, Twisted Roots, Apehangers) and crafted with Joe Miglionico on bass and drums (both Chimera alumni), The Storm also features Chris Stanley and John Byron on percussion, Rick Becker on sax, and the late Bill Ryan on trumpet. The stark and riveting cover photograph was by Steve Collins and the stunning paintings on the back and inside jacket are by the wonderful Amy Weichmann. A decade after its release, The Storm sounds current and remains a beautiful and brave vision of soul and psyche.Mike Ladd is also included ...
| | Fula Flute Mansa America CD (2009)
War Of Attrition album
$13.29 A duo of 'vocalizing' tambin (african flute) masters lead this neo-traditional vocal and instrumental ensemble through a repertoire that bridges Africa and the New World. The YouTube hit song "Obama" epitomizes the spirit of the album in its cross-integration of the ancient Mande praise-song in the service of honoring the new American President. Daring horn arrangements bring the African sound into modernity while griot epics pay respects to the roots. Fula Flute previously released to substantial critical acclaim the seminal self-titled CD “Fula Flute” in 2002. That led to performances such as the opening of Zankel Hall and a concert there the following season with El Hadj Djeli Sory Kouyate, widely-respected balafonist, Dean of Mande ...
