Although Cream was only together for a brief period, the band set the standard for future blues-rock power trios by redefining the role of each instrument in the musical triangle. Traditional arrangements had only the guitarist soloing, but the instrumental prowess of both Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce meant that a high level of improvisation was possible from all corners. Nowhere was this more evident than in a live setting, as demonstrated by the four performances included on LIVE CREAM. Taken from a series of dates recorded at Winterland and Fillmore West in 1968, Clapton, Bruce, and Baker all play with a ferocity that makes Jack Bruce's 10-minute version of "N.S.U." fly by.

Mouthful Of Talk – a humorous story of a man that comes to heaven and is asked about his achievements in life and he responds that he has nothing but talk. It’s a reflection of living as a musician and how meaningless it sometimes can seem.10. Movie (about solitude and grace) – a pure and simple lovesong about betrayal, loss and bitterness.11. She walked with her hands tied – is a story of a young girl that is forced to give up on one of her most important dreams – and there is really no one to blame.12. Something Weightless – a crazy rock-song with a messed up Dracula-organ in the front. The song is about letting go and moving on. 13.
