| | Monogono Amuk CD - Import Monogono Discography of CDs
Two years ago, 4 guys (Nuno - vocals, Gon‡alo - drums, Dani - bass, Renato - guitar) started a band, maybe because their lives were just too boring and their minds needed some distraction. Soon the will to create something that would not sound ... Full Descriptionlike an ordinary garage band stood up to be the primary goal. Described by a friend as King Crimson on steroids, the sound reveals a chaotic vision constructed and ordered in a progressive way, which turns each song into an endless journey of different scenarios. Monogono's main influences are King Crimson and Meshuggah. Amuk is the first open window into the world of Monogono, yet just a glimpse of what the future may bring. Amuk album
$15.18 Dream Theater's tenth long-player is about as dense and challenging as any album in the band's discography and emphasizes not only the virtuoso members' stupefying musicianship, but also their most aggressive and thoroughly metallic songwriting tendencies. The sixteen-minute opener "A Nightmare to Remember" quickly establishes this agenda via frequently thrash-paced staccato riffing, some of John Petrucci's most blistering guitar solos ever, and the return of drummer Mike Portnoy's syncopated growls, which provide contrast for singer James LaBrie's soaring melodic elegance. "The Count of Tuscany" is a heady prog-metal magnum opus brimming with more ideas, notes, and time changes over 19 minutes than most bands bother with over a ten album career. In fact, "Whither," a tender ballad and mere babe at five minutes in length, is the album's only concession to commerce. Black Clouds & Silver Linings, for all its abundantly positive qualities and minor but clear distinctions from prior efforts, ...
| | Voivod Infini CD (2009)
Amuk CD music
$11.98 Possibly more so than any other prior Voivod release, 2009's INFINITI is all about their late guitarist (and co-founding member) Piggy. Armed with guitar parts he recorded prior to his 2005 passing, the surviving Voivod members subsequently set out to finish off these final tracks. And musically, INFINITI really is a tribute of sorts to Voivod's fallen guitarist, as his playing propels many of the songs throughout the album. Back in the '80s when most metal guitarists were busy shredding away ...

| | Brandy CD (1994)
Amuk music CDs
$7.95 Brandy was nominated for a 1996 Grammy Award for Best New Artist. The single "Baby" was nominated for a 1996 Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
Brandy Norwood, the teen television actress on "Thea," began making waves in the pop world with her debut album BRANDY and her Top 10 single "I Wanna Be Down." The album is young, bubbly, and even sexy. Brandy's soul-touched R&B sound mixes sweetly with her jazz-inflected flourishes. Her themes are the concerns of any 15-year old. The midtempo "I Wanna Be Down" deals with teenage desire, "I Dedicate" pays tribute to her musical inspirations and her family, "Best Friend" is a paean to her brother (also a television actor), and "Give Me You" is a piano-driven, upbeat religious affirmation, effectively showcasing her gospel roots.
Her strong voice is more than competent enough to handle the sometimes tricky musical changes. She often displays a breathy, low-register vocalizing that is mature and controlled. Brandy, who also co-wrote some of the material, displays the musical chops to join the league of some of the influential artists she acknowledges in "I Dedicate." She is not a dilettante actress trying to conquer a new field--Brandy is the VSOP of the new school.

| | Jackie Wilson At The Copa CD (1962) Remastered
Amuk songs
$10.55 Recorded live at the Copacabana in New York, New York in 1962. Includes liner notes by Ed Sullivan.
This 1962 effort is the only live album released during Wilson's lifetime, and it's less a showcase for Wilson's talent than a textbook of pre-Beatles show biz practice. In other words, Wilson presents himself as a sort of all around entertainer a la Sammy Davis Jr., rather than the R&B and soul giant he's best remembered as.
Backed by a big TV style band and chorus, he tackles standards such as "Tonight," from WEST SIDE STORY, "Body and Soul," and Cole Porter's "Love For Sale." The sprawling band accompanies Wilson on his more ...
