More than three years after 2003's AND THEN, Joe (aka Georgia-born singer Joe Thomas) finally returned with another fine R&B outing, the much-delayed, highly anticipated AIN'T NOTHIN' LIKE ME. Boasting production by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and Timbaland, and guest shots by Nas, Chamillionaire, and others, the album is a solid set of contemporary R&B with a sophisticated soul edge that is well-represented by the gentle, emotive single "If I Was Your Man."

My Love is one of the best cuts on this CD. The piano on this are impeccable. Notice the range - wish I could describe it in words. Vocals awesome and the production is above the top. Joe deserves a Grammy this year people. Hope he's blessed to receive it. He has my vote.

The best
This is a album that you can put in and it takes you to a whole new world. "Where you at" is always in my play list on a sunny day with the top down on my car.

If u dont have this album u need to pick it up my fav. is "It's Me" "Life Of The Party" and "Ain't Nothin' like Me" includin his single thats out so go pick it up if u dont have it

let's face it, this is not joe's best work, but is it just me, or is there not a single Joe album that you cannot listen to the whole way through? that's what i thought. this dude's been doin' it long enough, and every time the guy scores points. beat and lyric wise there's a lot like him, but who says you can really sit back and enjoy their cds? you can with Joe.

Many overlook the fact that Sylvester was as much of a soul artist as he was a disco artist, what with his gospel roots and his ability to wrap his voice around a slow, deliberate arrangement. That's a shame, since there are soul-loving disco haters who simply avoid Sylvester's records for his disco connections, not to mention his sexual orientation. He was one of the most versatile artists of his time, singing deeply and sensually ("Thinking Right") one moment and then reaching up for a type of falsetto that will either cause your goose pimples to rise or make you run for shelter ("Can't You See"). Too Hot to Sleep is one of his most refined and laid-back albums, a consistent but unremarkable one that puts a spotlight on his crooning (best heard on his version of "Ooo Baby Baby"). The problem with this record is that it seems too much like a compromise. It's lacking in personality and hardly captures all of what makes Sylvester Sylvester. [Fantasy reissued this album in 1999 and combined it with 1977's Sylvester; Too Hot to Sleep was retained as the title.] ~ Andy Kellman
In 1999, Fantasy reissued Sylvester's first and last albums for the label--Sylvester (1977) and Too Hot To Sleep (1981)--on this 74-minute CD.
