The first Chevelle album recorded without all three Loeffler brothers (bassist Joe Loeffler departed in 2005, replaced by Dean Bernadini), VENA SERA stays confidently within the Illinois-based trio's well-honed heavy-rock sound. As on past outings, the group's strong Tool/A Perfect Circle influence is notable, but frontman Pete Loeffler tailors that aesthetic to his own more accessible approach on fierce tunes such as the surging "Well Enough Alone."
Chevelle: Peter Loeffler (vocals, guitar); Dean Bernardini (bass guitar); Sam Loeffler (drums).

Vena Sera Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Good, but not their best A solid addition, but this is by no means their best work (see "wonder what's next). My problem with this album is that it's too "radio-rockish" and is doesen't have quite the raw power of their earlier albums. Even "This type of thinking" had that impact even if it was skewed a little on the lighter side. It's not a bad album and has it's moments - and if you're a fan I'd recommend it. Just make sure you have their earleir works first :) Submitted by foambox1 (New York, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Oh My Juicy! awesome album by far. i didn't think they'd be able to top this type of thinking, being that the album itself rocks. well enough alone is AMAZING vocal-wise. I think pete has one of the most beautiful voices in the rock world. keep it up guys, you freakin rock. Submitted by Bianca (Federal Way, WA/Bronx, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Breaking Benjamin We Are Not Alone CD (2004)
Vena Sera
$10.79 When Aaron Fink and Markus James left Universal Records act Lifer to join the then-unsigned Breaking Benjamin, many hard-rock fans were skeptical. WE ARE NOT ALONE, the latter band's sophomore effort, promises to silence the naysayers for good. Led by powerful vocalist Ben Burnley, Breaking Benjamin delivers a snap-tight, streamlined brand of heavy alternative rock with occasional detours into the rhythmic funk-metal territory inhabited by Limp Bizkit and Korn.
With strong melodies reminiscent of Staind or Incubus at their most accessible, the Pennsylvania combo makes good use of soaring vocal harmonies and unusual production touches (the piano intro on "Breakdown" and the swirling, phase-shifting guitars on "Believe") to separate itself from the heavy-rock ...
| | 10 Years Autumn Effect CD (2005)
Vena Sera
$11.49 The well-crafted, progressive alt-metal on 10 Years' 2005 debut THE AUTUMN EFFECT proves they are one of the more promising bands on the scene. With the dramatic, tightly wound vocals of Jesse Hasek leading the way, 10 Years draw on influences like Tool and the Deftones in structure and mood, yet do not shy away from commercially viable melodies. Brooding atmospheres, ...
| | Tool 10,000 Days CD (2006)
Vena Sera
$13.29 To its legion of fans, everything the band Tool does is an event, but the elaborate plan behind their sporadic release schedule--roughly five years, on average, between albums--is due primarily to the time and effort the band packs into each successive effort. To title their fourth album 10,000 DAYS, then, isn't as much an exaggeration as it would seem. Tool are America's most consummate mainstream perfectionists, revitalizing progressive rock to the grandeur of its '70s heyday, but updated with technocratic tension and existential dread not known to previous generations. Perhaps it's the development of more musical genres at the turn of the millennium, but it's also Tool's ability to take what is needed from each and leave the florid excesses behind, forming a seething gray core of angst and release across epic-length songs that are as accessible ...
| | Sevendust Alpha CD (2007)
Vena Sera
$15.65 While all the alt-metal signifiers are firmly in place on Sevendust's sixth studio album--thrashy drumming, mesmerizing guitar heavyosity courtesy of Sonny Mayo--Sevendust stands apart from their peers in their attention to the rhythm. On songs like "Driven," chunky, riff-heavy verses burst into half-time choruses that ensnare and explode like land mines. ...
| | Linkin Park Minutes To Midnight CD (2007)
Vena Sera
$13.95 After a multi-platinum debut, Grammy nominations, a successful sophomore album, sold-out tours, and a collaboration with Jay-Z, the pressure was on for Linkin Park to deliver the goods with their 2007 release, MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT. Interestingly, the alternative metal outfit, best known for mixing rap, rock, and electronic touches, deviates from their aggressive, angst-filled sound on their third outing--opting instead ...

$16.45 Rude AttitudeForged from the mold of many of the greatest hard rock-heavy metal bands that came before Mark Scott LaMountain formed Rude Attitude in 1990 just as the Seattle grunge scene was starting to explode.Rude Attitude combined raw energy with melody and a lot of attitude to produce 3 independent cd's on their own label EFC Records and sold over 40.000 copies not huge But not bad at all, pretty much a matter of bad timing, as grunge took over this style of music which was a mix of Metallica and Motley Crue and just kind of ...
