$16.15 This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
DARK SIDE OF THE MOON was a benchmark record. It turned the musical world on its ear with a hitherto unseen combination of sounds, and changed things considerably for Pink Floyd. For this project, Pink Floyd resurrected older and unfinished numbers, some of which came from the multitude of soundtracks the band members had previously worked on. The film ZABRISKIE POINT, a study of American materialism from a foreigner's perspective, provided "Us and Them" (originally titled "The Violence Sequence"). Waters rewrote "Breathe" after its appearance on his and avant-garde composer Ron Geesin's score for THE BODY, a surreal medical documentary.

| | Lady Gaga Fame CD (2008)
Synth Destruction album
$9.99 The times were crying out for a pop star like Lady GaGa -- a self-styled, self-made shooting star, one who mocked the tabloid digital age while still wanting to wallow in it -- and one who's smart enough to pull it all off, too. That self-awareness and satire were absent in the pop of the new millennium, where even the best of the lot operated only on one level, which may be why Lady GaGa turned into such a sensation in 2009: everybody was thirsty for music like this, music for and about their lives, both real and virtual. To a certain extent, the reaction to The Fame may have been a little too enthusiastic, with GaGa turning inescapable sometime in the summer of 2009, when she appeared on countless magazine covers while both Weezer and DAUGHTRY covered "Pokerface," the rush to attention suggesting that she was the second coming of Madonna, a comparison GaGa cheerfully courts and one that's accurate if perhaps overextended. Like the marvelous Madge, Lady GaGa ushers the underground into the mainstream -- chiefly, a dose of diluted Peaches delivered via a burbling cauldron of electro-disco -- by taming it just enough so it's given the form of pop yet remains titillating. Sure, GaGa sings of disco sticks, bluffin' with her muffin, and rough ...
| | Doobie Brothers Captain And Me CD (1973) (Import)
Synth Destruction CD music
$27.45 CAPTAIN AND ME found the Doobie Brothers boasting three strong vocalists, two expert guitarists, and a brace of rhythmic drummers, refining a sound that crossed AM pop-rock, soul-tinged R&B, country-folk, jazzy gospel, and strong musicianship. The result burst the band into national prominence. Traces of Moby Grape, whom the group adored, can be heard in their vibrant harmonies and flowing hooklines, but THE CAPTAIN AND ME showed an act of singular purpose.
The effervescent urgency propelling the ...

| | Matt Sharp Puckett's Versus The Country Boy CD (2003) Extended Play
Synth Destruction music CDs
$7.99 After a brief run with the Rentals in the mid-'90s, ex-Weezer wunderkind Matt Sharp turned around his signature quirky pop for an Americana mix of acoustic guitars and moody, sunless melodies for a solo career. Sharp joined guitarist/keyboardist Greg Brown, formerly of Cake, and Josh Hager in early 2002 for what would become the charming Puckett's Versus the Country Boy EP. Sharp wears his heart on his sleeve on this easy-breathing four-song set. It seems like he is honest as a songwriter for the first time, sharing a sincere side for what's probably his most smartest material to date. It's nice to see Sharp create something that's tangible for him as an artist, and Weezer completists should be pleased with his musical progression. It was bound to happen and thankfully happened sooner rather than later. Through all of his experimenting, Sharp's talent has earned him great respect, but he's been a little unsure of what to do with that. With Puckett's Versus the Country Boy, he finally realizes that he deserves it. His confidence blossoms on the forlorn journey "Goodbye West Coast" and his tender heart swoons for "Visions of Anna." Tossing aside the Moog synthesizers for a grainy, high-lonesome romance on Puckett's Versus the Country Boy is a brilliant move for Sharp. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
After a four year absence, Matt Sharp returns to the music world as a solo artist, emerging with a sparse, acoustic four song EP titled, Puckett's Versus The Country Boy. Hidden away in a small house deep in the countryside of Leipers Fork, TN Matt removed himself to do some thinking, writing and recording for what has evolved into the EP and soon to follow debut solo album. The sound of his solo work is a big departure from what he is most well known for. The enigmatic front man for The Rentals (Maverick Records) released the seminal lo-fi new wave album Return of The Rentals in 1995, which featured the modern rock radio smash, "Friends Of P." and the critically acclaimed cult-classic Seven More Minutes. The sophomore effort was a glamorous affair of epic ballads and hedonistic celebrations, written and recorded in Barcelona and London, respectively. These were collaborations with some of Europe's most well known artists, such as Damon Albarn (Blur), Tim Wheeler (Ash), and countless others from Brit pop's royalty. The record was completed in a whirlwind of travel and emotion, bouncing from continent to continent in the haze of a passionate scene. "at that time, I thought I had all the answers, trying to create a tower of song, monuments of sound, with very dense arrangements, a billion tracks of synthesizers, a zillion layers of female harmonies, all to celebrate this friend of mine and to let her know she meant the world to me, but somehow in the midst ...
