Mi Paso Por Chebere album. Rockabilly purists tend to look down on Johnny Burnette's post-rock & roll trio, teen idol work of the early '60s, and this CD reissue of two of Burnette's solo albums shows why--up to a point. Granted, there's a lot of cutesy female choruses and sappy tunes, but there's also some very charming, extremely well sung pop that ranks with the best of the period, including his biggest hit "You're Sixteen." Other highlights here include the unbelievably melodramatic and morbid "Moody River" (in which Johnny's girlfriend drowns herself out of guilt), the bizarre patriotic love song "God, Country and My Baby," and Burnette's own "Choo Choo Train," the album's closest thing to a rocker, although it's unlikely to be mistaken for the Johnny Burnette Trio's "Train Kept a Rollin'."

"The greatest melody is the one I havenʼt heard before." Says KeeLime alter-ego Lu Rolli. A singer/songwriter, whose artistic journey started after discovering his grandfatherʼs poems written on the other side of old photographs, a journey, where, as he puts it: "Lu Rolli is the traveller and KeeLime is the Vehicle." And just like in those old poem/photographs, where one side holds the picture and the other side holds the words, KeeLime and Lu Rolli co-exist: Experience and art.
Those dualities, that balance you find in something like the sun rising is key. As KeeLime so poignantly assesses "Life is a simple series of ʻhellosʼ and ʻgood-byesʼ." All of these moments are songs to Kee- Lime. All experiences are a celebration that makes us able to understand each other better. To feel the balance between work and play, light and dark, rainy days and sunshine and the melody and groove of music. Between ...
