Dreamer songs
$11.55 In 1991, if any musical artist seemed a candidate for one-hit wonder status, it was Enigma. Not that "Sadeness Part 1" displayed any lack for talent, but the hit was certainly unusual. Worthy of his nom du disc, Michael Cretu released the bizarre, sexually charged Gregorian chant-driven New Age dance song under veils of mystery. Journalists speculated about his identity, as the song ignited controversy in country after country, topping the charts in most of them and going into top 5 in the United States.
Enigma has proven to be enduring and deservedly ...
| | Mannheim Steamroller Christmas CD (1984)
Dreamer album
$8.29 Also available in the CHRISTMAS COLLECTION box set with CHRISTMAS EXTRAORDINARE, A FRESH AIRE CHRISTMAS and CHRISTMAS IN THE AIRE.
Christmas 1984 is the first holiday album the Mannheim Steamroller released, and it remains their definitive work. Chip Davis never strayed from the clean, airy instrumental style that he exhibits here (and earlier perfected on his Fresh Aire albums), but it is here where it all sounded fresh. It's also where he had his best selection of songs, ...

| | Very Best Of The Delfonics CD (1999)
Dreamer music CDs
$14.29 Demolition, Girlschool's 1980 Bronze Records debut, as well as Hit & Run, its 1981 Stiff follow-up, were reissued as one in May 2004 via the import-only Japanese Victor Co.. ~ Johnny Loftus
While Philadephia's Delfonics have had their share of collections and best-ofs, all of them have been left wanting for the exclusion of a key B-side, a necessary if little known album track, or even an excluded A-side that helped write their story. This Belgian collection of 20 tracks from virtually every period of the band's successful years mends that hole in the fence. Budget priced -- perhaps because of the lack of detailed discographical information (there are no chart placements, session details, or even source tags) -- it nonetheless collects virtually every single important track by the trio of William Hart, Wilbert Hart, and Randy Cain. And it does so, as the label name suggests, in audiophile sound on a gold disc no less! It also documents, however unintentionally, the ever-changing thoughts and refined production nuances of producer Thom Bell, whose Philly Groove label issued these sides originally. Along with the obvious selections such as "La-La (Means I Love You)" and "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)," there are stunning hidden nuggets such as "Think It Over" and "Walk Right Up to the Sun." With the inclusion of "Lying to Myself" and "When You Get Right Down to It," what began as a collection of hits becomes an indispensable collection of seminal soul sides from an amazing band that embodies the silky smooth immediacy of the very roots of the Philly sound (and paved the way for MFSB, among others) and provides an unbroken link to the doo wop of the late '50s and early '60s. Essential listening that is budget priced and beautifully remastered. ~ Thom Jurek
The Delfonics were arguably the premier sweet soul band of the late '60s and early '70s; their shimmering harmonies and William Hart's agonizing falsetto, coupled with Stan Watson's production and Thom Bell's arranging and writing touches, created many unforgettable love songs. While their hits have been frequently collected and reissued, this CD set, while short (37 minutes), includes among its 12 tracks every major hit except "Over and Over." Engineering guru Bill Inglot used original masters, fully capturing the trio's marvelous interaction, the songs' sweeping arrangements, and the great mix of vulnerability, hurt, and poignance that characterized their finest hits. ~ Ron Wynn

| | Yann Tiersen C'Etait Ici CD (2003)
Dreamer songs
$36.69 C'ETAIT ICI is a two-disc budget-priced 2002 live recording by contemporary composer Yann Tiersen that features 29 tracks and includes "Rue Des Cascades," "L'homme Aux Bras Ballants," and "Crise."
The double-disc set C'Était Ici presents Yann Tiersen live in concert, performing highlights from his five studio albums and his score for the French film Amélie, the work for which he may be most widely known. While "La Valse d'Amélie" and "L'Autre Valse d'Amélie" sound just as sparkling and magical here as they did in the movie and on its soundtrack, and songs such as "C'Était Ici" and "Rue des Cascades" follow suit, the album gives equal time to the other sides of Tiersen's music. The pieces with vocals are particularly striking, especially "La Rupture," a winding epic that is as eerie as it is beautiful. The mellow, romantic "La Terrasse," meanwhile, highlights the undercurrents of French pop and rock that influence his work. Hints of French folk can be heard on tracks like "Déjà Loin" and the modern-day gypsy fiddling of "Sur le Fil," emphasizing the fact that while Tiersen blends elements of classical, pop, rock, and folk into his music, all of it is quintessentially French. The live format especially suits some of his more energetic songs, such as "Le Jour d'Avant" and "Le Banquet," both of which feature explosive, rock-oriented drumming. Then again, the beautifully intimate renditions of Serge Gainsbourg's "La Noyée" and Tiersen's own "Le Moulin" are just as powerful ...
