| | Bing Crosby Good & Rare, Vol. 2 CD Bing Crosby Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
This extensive collection lives up to its name, featuring 26 tracks recorded in the mid-1950s and previously unreleased on CD. Bing Crosby demonstrates his innate versatility with smoothly accomplished performances of the Latin-flavored "Bando Da Lua" and "Copacabana," the sentimental "Old Soldiers Never Die," and a variety of duets, both with his son, Gary, on "Fatherly Advice," and with fellow showbiz veteran Donald O'Connor on "If There's Anybody Here" and "Back in the Old Routine."
An absolute gem of a CD! All 26 of these tracks appear on an official CD release for the first time and the quality is excellent. Here you have the opportunity to hear the crooner's crooner in his mellow period when he was no longer chasing chart successes and before concept-type albums became the norm. Its like a reunion with an old friend warm, nostalgic and somehow reassuring. Remastered from original 78's using cedar 24 bit audio restoration. | Good & Rare, Vol. 2 Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Bing Crosby I have never heard these songs before, been around since 1939. However when I was stationed at Wright-Pattersn A F B, I was sent on temp. duty to Beal A F B. I stayed at a motel, and the first morn.I was having Coffee and in walked this Old Geeser and a youngster, they set down with the manager, while he was talking ,I ttied to figure out who he was,as I had heard the voice before. Jis face had cracks the size of the Grand Canyon, looked to be 900 yrs old. After they left, the manager told me who it was that I was having Coffee with every Morning. It was Bing Crosby, guess the canyons were caused from Make up and camera heat. His son Nathanal was a very intelegent young man. so there it is and even though I liked his music then, I became a strong fan since, it was too bad that he Passed, but thanks to reproduction we can hear the Great ones again. So called music today is just noise as it is very difficult to under the words.Thank you. Submitted by grnmount (Waldorf Md) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Dean Martin This Time I'm Swingin/Pretty Baby CD (1996) (Import)
Good & Rare, Vol. 2 CD music
$11.79 This remastering combines two albums, THIS TIME I'M SWINGIN' and PRETTY BABY, featuring 25 iconic ballads from Dean Martin, such as "You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You" and "Heaven Can Wait."
This British two-fer combines Dean Martin's fourth (This Time I'm Swingin'!, 1960) and second (Pretty Baby, 1957) regular studio albums onto one CD. The later album, heard first, was Martin's initial collaboration with conductor/arranger Nelson Riddle. It was an easy, swinging collection with appealing horn charts and a series of comfortable readings of recent and vintage standards. Especially notable were the two songs borrowed from My Fair Lady, "On the Street Where You Live" and "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face," which Martin and Riddle re-imagined as straight-forward love songs; "You're Nobody 'til Somebody Loves You" (not the hit recording); and a solo version of "Just in Time," which the singer had recently done ...

Good & Rare, Vol. 2 songs
$9.39 LIVE BITES features concert recordings from hair metal band the Scorpions, including two bonus tracks.
As the title suggests, Live Bites is a collection of live tracks from the Scorpions, recorded at a time (between 1988 and 1995) when they weren't at the top of their form, despite the hit single "Winds of Change." There are occasional highlights that might make the CD worthwhile for the band's most dedicated fans. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
As the title suggests, Live Bites is a collection of live tracks from the Scorpions, recorded at a time (between 1988 and 1995) when they weren't at the top of their form, despite the hit single "Winds of Change." During this time, their audience was beginning to evaporate, partially because of changing tastes and partially because the band was losing its ability to rock out consistently. Live Bites documents this decay too effectively. There are occasional highlights, but too much of the disc contains half-hearted, tired performances to make it worthwhile for anyone but the most dedicated fans. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
