This extensive collection lives up to its name, featuring 26 tracks recorded in the mid-1950s and previously unreleased on CD. Bing Crosby demonstrates his innate versatility with smoothly accomplished performances of the Latin-flavored "Bando Da Lua" and "Copacabana," the sentimental "Old Soldiers Never Die," and a variety of duets, both with his son, Gary, on "Fatherly Advice," and with fellow showbiz veteran Donald O'Connor on "If There's Anybody Here" and "Back in the Old Routine."
An absolute gem of a CD! All 26 of these tracks appear on an official CD release for the first time and the quality is excellent. Here you have the opportunity to hear the crooner's crooner in his mellow period when he was no longer chasing chart successes and before concept-type albums became the norm. Its like a reunion with an old friend warm, nostalgic and somehow reassuring. Remastered from original 78's using cedar 24 bit audio restoration. | Good & Rare Volume 2 Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Bing Crosby I have never heard these songs before, been around since 1939. However when I was stationed at Wright-Pattersn A F B, I was sent on temp. duty to Beal A F B. I stayed at a motel, and the first morn.I was having Coffee and in walked this Old Geeser and a youngster, they set down with the manager, while he was talking ,I ttied to figure out who he was,as I had heard the voice before. Jis face had cracks the size of the Grand Canyon, looked to be 900 yrs old. After they left, the manager told me who it was that I was having Coffee with every Morning. It was Bing Crosby, guess the canyons were caused from Make up and camera heat. His son Nathanal was a very intelegent young man. so there it is and even though I liked his music then, I became a strong fan since, it was too bad that he Passed, but thanks to reproduction we can hear the Great ones again. So called music today is just noise as it is very difficult to under the words.Thank you. Submitted by grnmount (Waldorf Md) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Nidaros Cathedral Choir Garden Of Unearthly Delights CD (2005) (Import)
Good & Rare Volume 2
$14.59 The U.K. doom band conjures memories of Black Sabbath in its prime in this voyage around the esoteric and phantasmagorical, which, in addition to being a musical exploration of the arcane and unclean, also happens to rock like hell on tracks like the wittily titled "Corpsecycle," while exploring more ethereal doomscapes on "The Garden" and "Fields of Zagara." Although Cathedral have long been treated as a fireproof doom/stoner institution, the God's honest truth is that, following those first few, legend-building albums, most of their subsequent releases have contained no more than two or three great songs surrounded by copious amounts of filler. And no, this isn't about taking the band for granted either -- just admitting a cold hard truth that's made all the more evident by 2005's still flawed but appreciably improved The Garden of Unearthly Delights. If only one could affirm that it was an unconditional return to top-of-the-line, energetic British doom. Starting with its back-to-basics cover art created by longtime artist David Patchett (featuring ...
