Isn't This A Lovely Day album
$15.65 "The Chairman of the Board" died in May of 1998, yet his music sounds as vital and relevant today as ever. Released on the 10th anniversary of his death--in coordination with a slew of DVD releases commemorating the singer's acting career as well as an official U.S. Postal Service stamp--NOTHING BUT THE BEST provides an excellent look at Sinatra's tenure at the Reprise label. Among the album's 22 vintage cuts are classics such as "The Way You Look Tonight," "Luck Be a Lady," "Strangers in the Night," and "My Way." ...
| | Michael Buble It's Time CD (2005)
Isn't This A Lovely Day CD music
$12.79 Michael Buble's third major US release (including the mostly live COME FLY WITH ME) stays on message--this young Canadian loves the lush, swaying music of his parents' and grandparents' generations. Buble's albums, however, are much more than mere back-in-the-day exercises. The production and arranging of David Foster (Celine Dion, Josh Groban) is eclectic in a way that firmly places the tunes at the dawn of the 21st century, and, more importantly, Buble possesses the chops and sense of style to re-imagine the adult-contemporary vocal genre in a distinctive manner. In addition to standards by Gershwin and Porter, Buble embraces a variety of sounds, from Motown ("How Sweet It Is") to bossa nova ("Quando, Quando, Quando" with Nelly Furtado) to the Beatles ...

| | Julie London Julie Is Her Name CD (1992) (Import) Bonus Tracks; Digipak; Spain
Isn't This A Lovely Day album
$14.45 The actress Julie London more than held her own amidst all the other jazz and pop singers of the mid-'50s. In fact, she was probably more successful in her recording career than as a movie star. "Cry Me A River" is a classic '50s track, right up there with June Christy's "Something Cool" and Chet Baker's "My Funny Valentine." The singer is aided immeasurably by the spare, sympathetic accompaniment of Barney Kessel on guitar. (In some ways, it's just as much his session as hers, which is why it sounds so much like real jazz.) One can imagine her performing this set in a small Hollywood club or even her own living room. She is relaxed and confident, and doesn't try to do too much vocally, which was a smart choice all around. One can only imagine what Marilyn Monroe would have sounded like in similar circumstances.
For a time, Julie London was as famous for her sexy album covers as for her singing. Her debut is her best, a set of fairly basic interpretations of standards in which she is accompanied tastefully by guitarist Barney Kessel and bassist Ray Leatherwood. "Cry Me a River" from this album, was her biggest hit, and her breathy versions of such numbers as "I Should Care," "Say It Isn't So," "Easy Street," and "Gone with the Wind" are ...

Isn't This A Lovely Day CD music
$9.29 THRILL MACHINE GETS PERSONAL WITH STEAMPUNK The follow-up to the band's 2005 release, EVOKE Album review: Atlanta, GA – October 11th, 2007Local heroes, party band, power trio, unlikely collection of characters – over the past decade Thrill Machine has grown from their “retro in the metro” reputation into full-blown recording artists, and it really shows on their latest release, STEAMPUNK PROJECT (Brainstorm Ltd. Media). For the uninitiated, the term “Steampunk” does not describe a musical style, but a type of fantasy and speculative fiction; an art form that denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually in the Victorian era. The striking “steampunk” guitar depicted on the CD cover ties in great with the band’s “Thrill Machine” name and logo, and the song-writing and music itself is also peppered with elements of 'steampunk' styles, themes, and ideals.STEAMPUNK PROJECT as a whole, however, is in fact a diverse assembly of music – spanning blues, art rock, classic rock, southern rock, power pop and alternative/new rock, containing industrial and nu metal overtones, all delivered with thoughtful intensity and the kind of variety inherent in a multi-gender band with three lead singers (drummer Stan Barker, bassist Tamara Frank and guitarist Brian Holcomb all sing lead vocals). STEAMPUNK PROJECT comments on very personal, mature and sometimes dark subjects, ranging from adultery (“Now That We Both Know”), persecution and hate crimes (“You Don’t ...
