Although it merely couples a pair of earlier Edith Piaf compilations (Her Greatest Recordings and La Vie en Rose), this Living Era double-disc set presents an expansive look at Piaf's early career. With recordings as early as her 1935 debut, it presents her story up to the point of her 1947 American breakthrough, and includes most of the landmark songs of her career -- "Mon Légionnaire," "Fais-Moi Valser," "L'Accordéoniste," "La Java de Cézigue," and, of course, "La Vie en Rose." ~ John Bush (2-CD set) This collection sums up the very best of Edith Piaf's recordings from her first session in 1935 up to 1947.
