| | Ozzy Osbourne Black Rain CD Ozzy Osbourne Discography of CDs
(34 Customer Reviews)
Lyrically Ozzy makes some familiar anti-war statements ("Black Rain" and "Countdown's Begun"), delivers social and political commentary ("Almighty Dollar" and "Civilize The Universe"), and offers affection for his fans and loved ones ("Here For You" and "Lay Your World On Me"). Clean and sober for over two years, the self-proclaimed Prince of Darkness is in remarkably strong and healthy form on BLACK RAIN.
Six years on since 2001's largely forgettable DOWN TO EARTH, BLACK RAIN marks a bit of a comeback for Ozzy Osbourne. Ozzy's live band (featuring longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde, drummer Mike Bordin, and bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson) were called to arms at Oz's Los Angeles home studio to deliver the kind of heavy grooves and down-tuned hard rock that sate fans old and new. Wylde's trademark vibrato and false harmonics on the opening track, in particular, set a hard-hitting tone for this fresh set of tracks.
Personnel: Ozzy Osbourne (vocals); Zakk Wylde (guitar); Blasko (electric bass); Mike Bordin (drums).

| Black Rain Music Review Average Rating: (3.6 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Great! And he's sober! This is one of Ozzy's best cds ever. Possible the best. This is also heavy. I love it, it also comes with a code to get free Ozzfest tickits. I love this album, my favorite tracks are I Don't Wanna Stop, Black Rain, Lay Your World On Me, and God Bless The Almighty Dollar. Much Better Than I'd Anticipated! After reading all the negative reviews (which I usually take with a grain of salt) I went out and purchased "Black Rain" and sure enough it was pretty dang good. Can't see giving it a one or two star review - it's definately better than that! Ozzy and Zakk are still a lethal combination and a good majority of the songs (ex. "Not Going Away", "Silver", "Civilize The Universe", and "Countdown's Begun") just plain smoke. This is anything but a boring cd! Submitted by B.C. Boring. First of all, I was really hoping a return to form with this album but all we get is a polished version of Black Label Society left overs with Ozzy on vocals.
3 songs are decent but the rest is just flat out boring.
After i listened to this several times I listened to "the ultimate sin" and remembered what OZZY was all about...As much as I respect Zakk as a guitarist he is nothing compared to Randy or Jake. This is just a flat out boring album. Down To Earth was better than this. Submitted by andrew (wheaton, IL, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Halford III: Winter Songs CD (2009) Special Edition; Digipak
Black Rain CD music
$13.75 At first glance, Halford's entry into the crowded holiday market looks like a parody. Heavy metal and Christmas make for strange bedfellows, and WINTER SONGS' pastoral cover art -- which depicts Rob Halford staring wistfully (with a goatee and shades) into a soft, snowy pine forest -- screams Spinal Tap. That said, the Judas Priest frontman approaches yuletide standards like "We Three Kings" and "What Child Is This?" with the same conviction that he applied to Priest classics like "Electric Eye" and "Freewheel Burning" -- it probably helps that most traditional Christmas hymns tend to fall into the same brooding minor keys that serve as the foundation for most, if not all, heavy metal songs. While WINTER SONGS, like Twisted Sister's excellent 2006 TWISTED CHRISTMAS collection, may not be mainstream enough for the department store Santa kiosk, it's a surprisingly cohesive and listenable addition to the genre -- and if skillfully disguised in a Mannheim Steamroller jewel case, it could make Christmas morning truly joyful.
At first glance, Halford's entry into the crowded holiday ...
| | Rockstar Rock Star CD (2001) Original Soundtrack
Black Rain music CDs
$9.99 The most booty-kickin' spoof Metal group to come down the pike since Spinal Tap is Steel Dragon, the Mark Wahlberg-fronted hair band in the film ROCK STAR. Along with other '80s metal tracks and modern tunes, this soundtrack makes for a great listen.
ROCK STAR is based on Tim "Ripper" Owens, who left his Judas Priest cover band to join the real thing. The cover band in the film is Blood Pollution, who give us the catchy, hard-rocking "Wasted Generation." Steel Dragon does a full-throttle cover of Rainbow's "Long Live Rock And Roll" that retains the spirit of the original. Steel Dragon's original tunes such as "Livin' the Life" and "Stand Up" are straight out of 1987, with the screaming vocals and crunchy guitar riffs that made the era so much fun. Real-life metal ...

| | Breaking Benjamin We Are Not Alone CD (2004)
Black Rain album
$10.45 When Aaron Fink and Markus James left Universal Records act Lifer to join the then-unsigned Breaking Benjamin, many hard-rock fans were skeptical. WE ARE NOT ALONE, the latter band's sophomore effort, promises to silence the naysayers for good. Led by powerful vocalist Ben Burnley, Breaking Benjamin delivers a snap-tight, streamlined brand of heavy alternative rock with occasional detours into the rhythmic funk-metal territory inhabited ...
| | Scorpions Tokyo Tapes [hip-O) CD (1978) Remastered
Black Rain CD music
$11.99 If you played in a hard rock band during the '70s, what were you likely to be doing circa 1978? Why, recording a live album, of course. Preferably a double vinyl set, and in Japan to boot. The Scorpions were no exception, and in fact, their Tokyo Tapes were captured only days after Cheap Trick's At Budokan in April 1978. Though hardly as inspired or successful, the Tokyo Tapes set still serves as an ideal greatest-hits collection of the Scorpions' first decade. This recording also showcases the spectacular playing (and occasionally, the dreadful singing) of guitarist Uli Jon Roth, who would soon leave the band for a misguided solo career, but displays some jaw-dropping technique here, most notably on the epic "We'll Burn the Sky." The rest of the band also puts in competent performances on such early standards as "In Trance," "Fly to the Rainbow," and "Speedy's Coming." The material on disc one is consistently strong, and though a number of pointless covers ("Houng Dog," "Long Tall Sally") and that most dreaded concert spectacle -- the drum solo -- break the flow on disc two, the band still closes strong with the crowd-pleasing Japanese folk song "Kojo No Tsuki" and frenetic versions ...

| | Randy Mcstine Guitarizm CD (2005)
Black Rain album
$17.75 "Guitarizm", the phenomenal new studio disc from young, gifted guitar "prodigy" Randy McStine, features 13 trax (61 minutes) of mega-awesome, unbelievably killer, intense, powerful, mind-blowing instrumental heavy guitar "shred" that stands up to some of the most outstanding guitar music you've ever heard. "Guitarizm" is an incredible "TOTAL GUITAR" statement from an incredible guitarist. Randy McStine (named after Randy Rhoads) has been playing guitar since age five (5) and half of the "Guitarizm" disc was recorded when he was only twelve (12) years old (!!!)including a spellbinding "encore" version of "The Loner" which is worth the price of admission alone. Randy McStine is without a doubt one of the best young guitar players you have ever heard and his guitar playing & music is right up there with the best of them including the most seasoned accomplished players in the world. Despite his young age, (skeptics take note: it's not a gimmick) Randy McStine's incredible guitar playing includes all of the classic elements (technique with feel + substance = TOTAL GUITAR) that define classic guitarists, complete with an incredible sense of depth, maturity and authority that add up to make him a true legitimate guitar hero of the highest caliber. Not only is his guitar playing phenomenal beyond belief and way beyond his young age, on "Guitarizm" he has written & recorded powerful, stand-out, material that far surpasses and goes way beyond the norm of most instrumental guitar discs. "Guitarizm" is an incredible instrumental guitar "shred" disc that actually features strong memorable "songs" to back up his incredible, talented powerful guitar playing. "Guitarizm" is all about substance and style and not about "shred for the sake of shred", although there is more than enough insane over the top "shred factor" displayed on "Guitarizm" to satisfy even the most hard-core heavy guitar "shred" freaks out there in guitarland! Randy McStine is definitely the REAL deal when it comes down to REAL guitar music. "Guitarizm" is an awesome mind-blowing instrumental heavy guitar disc that ...
