The 2007 two-CD edition of the Dutch trance music artist, producer, and DJ Armin Van Buuren's yearly dance music anthology presents a seamless collection of mid-tempo beats underpinning both instrumentals and ethereal vocals, including Jennifer Rene's angelic-sounding "Wouldn't Change a Thing," Kirsty Hawkshaw's breathy "Reasons to Forgive," and Sir Adrian Acappella's modernist dance track, "The Space We Are." sets the bar for trance!!! This album is totally worth your money. If you are a fan of trance this set will be stuck on repeat for probably the first 2 weeks you own this. I listened to mine over and over. The vocal tracks on CD1 are amazing! Overall great quality. I know a lot of electronic music CD's can end up being big disappointments...this is NOT one of those! Great Melodic and Uplifting Trance !!! That's why Armin is #1. CD1 seems to be another house stuff for till track 3, but then "Dj Shah - Who will find me" hails some excellent melodic female vocals & uplifting trance. Kirsty Hawkshaw, Rio Addicts, Sunlounger, Kyau & Albert delivers some finest of melodic trance, BUT it's Jose Amnesia & Jennifer Rene who steals the show with storming hit "Wouldn't change a Thing." This is a must for uplifting collection. CD2 introduces male vocals, although not as consistent as CD1 ut again Aly & Fila, Mike Foyle, Gareth Emery won't let this down.
All together, for CD1 itself you can go and get this set. Submitted by espyer (India) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Armin Outdoes Himself With SOT 2007! "State Of Trance 2007" is even better than last years collection. The songs are all quality trance, no filler, just great songs and all flawlessly mixed. Lots of female vocals and melodic and pulsating beats. This may be the trance cd of the year. Submitted by B.C. ("Hallandale Beach, Fl.,USA") Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

State Of Trance 2007
$12.55 It differs little from his previous releases, but Paul Van Dyk's The Politics of Dancing, Vol. 2 is a satisfying argument that trance isn't dead and not even on life support. One bit of newness is the speed at which Van Dyk discards tracks on disc one's mix, a 17-song epic journey into uplifting, atmospheric dancefloor dreaminess. Theatrical stops and starts feature into every one of these blissful numbers, but Van Dyk keeps things moving at a pace such that the listener probably won't notice the gimmicky device is being overused. Otherwise, everything is tasteful with vocal numbers that don't get too precious and just enough Benny Benassi-styled electro to let you know this ...

Welcome to Haverghast Asylum;" so echoes the dire back cover warning as we foray through the latest offering of sonic enticement of diabolical and abject terror. Midnight Syndicate continues to offer soundscapes best described as cinema of the mind. Haverghast Asylum is the imaginary setting for this latest outing, which comprises macabre music intertwined with the unrestful haunting of the criminally insane from another era. We are mute witnesses to an auditory excursion through the foulest depths of a man-made purgatory. Far worse than the unsettled dead patients, who endured unspeakable horrors and torture, are the eternally damned souls of their tormentors who have accompanied our phantom residents into this hellish abyss. The disc opens very dramatically, not ...

| | Tom Hipps Then Went The Demons CD (2006)
State Of Trance 2007
$13.69 "Then Went The Demons" is the sophomore effort from Minneapolis-based Tom Hipps. His latest offering is a bit edgier than his debut record "Everybody & Their Brother" but, like its predecessor, remains true to Tom's folk rock essence and is steeped in melody, well-placed harmonies and deep lyrical passion. The album title, inspired by a stained glass window in a small-town Minnesota church, alludes to the pervasive theme of the album - fighting and conquering our demons through the blood of Christ. With jangly guitars and a counter melody weaving through the wistful chorus, the first track "Take You Down" takes you back to a time when R.E.M. and Matthew Sweet were dominating the musical landscape of the times. Tom uses modern-day language and pop culture imagery to translate the messages of God's word to a culture full of distraction and passivity. In "Back To You", Tom symbolically uses physical fitness to illustrate the need to stay "spiritually fit" by emphasizing the Apostle Paul's comparison of life to an athletic event. Tom uses his gifts to explore the condition of human life through the eyes of someone who's "been there and done that". By using the wisdom gained through difficult and trying times, he is able to demonstrate that the trials we experience in life ultimately produce a stronger, more beautiful version of what we once were. As Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith, experience is the vehicle by which it travels. Join Tom as he sings songs of and to the Savior and discover that, as Jesus died and was raised from the dead, "Then Went The Demons".-Dave Coleman, Chrematizo Label Group * * * * Singer/songwriter Tom Hipps has an extensive background in the music industry ...
