Trio Of Doom CD music
$68.19 Contains previously unreleased material. Some of the recordings on the CELLAR DOOR SESSIONS were originally released in edited form on the 1971 double-LP LIVE EVIL.
There is an entire universe contained in this box. Sumptuously packaged and scrupulously annotated, CELLAR DOOR SESSIONS 1970 is a six-disc set that documents Miles Davis's extended residency at the Washington, D.C., club. Davis is backed by a group of genius musicians: keyboardist Keith Jarrett, drummer Jack DeJohnette, bassist Michael Henderson, saxophonist Gary Bartz, percussionist Airto Moreira and guitarist John McLaughlin (who appears only on the last two discs). Together they pioneered an ecstatic fusion of jazz, rock, funk, and abstract sound-painting that established the blueprint for the future of progressive music.
Each disc contains a different live set, and while songs are often repeated across the set lists, no two tracks sound the same. The players improvise at a fever-pitch, pushing themselves to endless invention, and the ensemble's interplay--expressionistic, ...

| Miles Davis Complete On The Corner Sessions CDs (2007) Box Set
Trio Of Doom CD music
$106.45 With a huge cast of accompanists including John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Bernard Purdie, and many more, Davis definitively transcended the jazz template and fully embraced a new form that incorporated jazz, rock, funk, and the avant garde, but was truly its own beast.
Eschewing harmonic/melodic development, these tracks are powered by shifts in dynamics and texture over percolating grooves, and would prove hugely influential to hip-hop, dub, electronica, and more, for decades to come. By including outtakes and full versions of edited tracks, this collection finally lets the layers of Miles and producer Teo Macero's complex tapestry unfold with the proper breathing room, making it clear why what was initially one of Miles' worst-selling albums would eventually be regarded as a high-water mark even he would never surpass.
In a sense, the 1972 release ON THE CORNER was the culmination of what Miles Davis had been working towards since 1969's IN A SILENT WAY, where he began experimenting with a full-on electric ensemble and moving beyond straight-ahead jazz. THE COMPLETE ON THE CORNER SESSIONS, ...

Trio Of Doom Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews A Treat From Long Ago As a fan of all 3 of these musicians from back in the '70s (and McLaughlin to this day), I'm certainly glad that JM gave these tapes another listen and decided they were worth using modern tech. for a restoration project (and the resulting sound is excellent). The muscianship of all 3 men is amazing and their interaction a treat for any fan's ear. This one is to be recommended! I do wonder if any of those old jams with Jimi might be worth a restoration treatment... Submitted by willdobbins (Rosedale, MD) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.
Lost Treasure Mclaughlin,Pastorius,Williams. What a trio, what a lost treasure that was found from a concert of long ago! The blend, energy of these legendary artists, two of which are deceased, makes you wonder why it took so long to release the tapes???? It takes you to a time when fusion, jazz rock, spiritual energy and vibes were kicking.True afficionados will be grateful for some new directions painted by these masters.Enjoy! Delivers the goods I was pleasantly entertained by how this CD blended very tight arrangements with improvisation. It seemed to be mainly high energy (which I like). The mellow sections did not overstay their welcome either!
The sound was surprisingly in-your-face without loosing the live ambiance.
Great release. I can't think of anything wrong with it, so I give it 5 stars. Submitted by wildtripproductions (Venice Beach CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.
I Wish I'd Purchased Something Else I think the world of these players and have been listening to them for ages. But I found this recording, of a live performance coupled with studio versions of the same tunes, unrewarding. There are some nice moments of course. Just not enough of them for me. I wish I'd purchased a Weather Report recording, or a Mahavishnu recording or something else. Submitted by davidengel58 (Bethesda, MD) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.
overdue treasure! answered prayers. are they the one...? yes they are. incomparable. thanks for modern technology, this priceless piece of art can now be enjoyed, after how many years of wait, almost hopeless years of wait! and to think... two of them passed away already.
