Bob's Southern Bistro - Boston's Finest Jazz & Soul Artists CD

The 2007 Bob's Southern Bistro Compilation CD is a smorgasbord of musical talent and great original music! The jazz side of the CD includes "Everything's Gonna Be Alright," a jazz rendition of the gospel classic performed by Elan Trotman and special guest Kirk Whalum. When listening remember that Elan is in your left ear and Kirk is in your right." Paulo Danay serves up a delicious Brazilian jazz piece called "Ye Ye." Myanna always delivers a funky saxophone song and this one is called "Intrepidation." Boston's favorite sons, The Boston Horns, have included the title track of their new CD called "A Thousand Souls." The compilation includes two vocal, jazz songs. "Spanish Rice And Beans" by The Nat Simpkins / Henri Smith Band features Charles Neville on saxophone and Henri's "Lou Rawls-like" baritone voice. "Love and Beauty" is a wonderful song that truly showcases the many facets of saxophonist/vocalist Stan Strickland. The CD ends with the explosive funk/fusion song by Belgian born drummer Zeke Martin and his band ZMQ called "Blah Blah Blah.

The soul side features some amazing vocalists! "For My Lady" is the new track by Boston's most cherished singer, Ray Greene. Not to be outdone, Lori Dow checks in with "I Wanna Know You Again", the song that made 2006 her most memorable year ever! Ashanti Munir's "Black Pearl" is a tribute to the memory of Miss Shante Renee Jones who was murdered senselessly in Boston's Mattapan section. All the fans of James Aldridge in England will be treated to his new song called "It's Not Always What You Dreamed Of." His smooth baritone voice still sounds as good as ever! Leon Beal, Jr. has a message for the youth of today worldwide in his track called "Little Brother." Thought of by many as the best female singer in Boston, "Fire Flies" is a rare single by the mighty Athene Wilson. Responsible for the successes of Lori Dow, Leon Beal, Jr. and himself, singer/songwriter Terry Gresham is present with the hypnotic "Here I Am."
