| | Fergie The Dutchess CD (2006)
Coco: Summer Sessions CD music
$10.85 The association that versatile pop chanteuse Fergie (aka Stacy Ferguson) struck up with the hip-hop crew Black Eyed Peas (she was central to their hugely successful 2003 release, ELEPHUNK) proved she was capable of playing in the big leagues, and it was only a matter of time before the singer dropped a solo effort. THE DUTCHESS arrived in 2006 and was packed, not surprisingly, with slick, commercially viable pop-rap.

Coco: Summer Sessions songs
$11.29 Ever since she won the first-ever AMERICAN IDOL reality-TV competition, Kelly Clarkson has tried to distance herself from the very institution that brought her fame. More so than any PR move or interview sound bite, however, it's Clarkson's third full-length that may represent her biggest push for career and artistic control. MY December kicks off with the album's first single, "Never Again," and with the opening line "I hope the ring you gave to her/turns her finger green," Clarkson begins one of the ...

| | Alicia Keys As I Am CD (2007)
Coco: Summer Sessions CD music
$15.05 The third full-length from contemporary R&B diva Alicia Keys is called AS I AM, a title that adequately reflects the album's straightforward, confessional soul-pop. Keys built her popularity making stylish, reflective, voice-&-piano music; AS I AM continues that trend, albeit in a poppier vein that balances neatly between neo-soul and adult contemporary. This is reflected in the mid-tempo grooves, songs of empowerment ...

$26.45 UK release. Funeral formed in 1991 out of the ashes of another band by drummer (then guitarist) Anders Eek and guitarist Thomas Angell. Early '93 bassist Einar Fredriksen was recruited from his old thrash-metal band Anti-Chord, and Funeral recorded it's first demo 'Tristesse' later that year. Wild Rags Records released the demo in '94 as a MCD. Early '94 singer Toril Snyen joined, and the demo 'Beyond All Sunsets' was recorded. This got the ...

Nice one, Colbie! I really, really like this album. Even though it's nothing special in terms of a new and different sound, it's a great break from the Soulja Boy and Rihannna figures hogging the top spots; I'd rather crinkle my nose than shut up and drive, you know what I mean? A lot of these songs sound the same, true, but they're still rather lovely and I was happy to listen to them multiple times each. Hope to hear more from you soon, Colbie!
