Great film and excellent cultural component Love it. Marc Anthony rocked the role, the film and Jennifer Lopez came out of her skin to do this role. Thanks this film and soundtrack cheered my heart, and saddened also at the same time. EXCELLENT

 Marc is better than Lavoe
Being a Salsa afficionado, I know I am going to catch heat for this but I think that Marc did the songs better than Lavoe. The movie wasn't all it was cracked up to be but the soundtrack is awesome. I really can't stand Lavoe's voice, but I have always admired his improvisation skills, which were legendary. He should've been called "El Sonero de los Soneros" instead of El Cantante. Marc is the true el cantate because he really can sing and has a beautiful tenor voice. He's one of the best selling, if not the best selling salsero of all time. So give or take, I say they pretty much even out. If Marc were to improvise like Lavoe, He would've crushed him. Marc has star power unlike anyone and a charisma which rivals Lavoe. I rather listen to Domingo Quiñones or Victor Manuelle than Lavoe because they can both SING and Improvise, and of course El Cano who can battle with anyone, probably the best out there besides Domingo right now. 5 stars Marc...you are the best.

marc anthony and jenifer lopez was perfect for the part am glad they made this movie hector lavoe would be proud it was beautiful i loved it.

 INCREDIBLE PROTRAYAL OF A LEGEND BY A UP AND COMING LEGEND
This is the best movie I've seen protraying real life of a latino since Selena, this was put together realistically bought to life by Marc and Jennifer. I felt Hector Lavoe's highs and lows especially his pain and grieves in this film. The writers, director and actors did an awesome job. This film in my opinion is Oscar worthy, but it won't since Julia Roberts and Denzel were not the lead role. I am very proud of Marc & Jennifer. God Bless.
