| | Genesis 1976-1982 CDs (2007) Box Set
Tu Me Haces Falta
$89.39 When Peter Gabriel left Genesis in the mid 1970s to pursue a solo career, drummer Phil Collins was moved to vocals and the band continued to release influential albums of smart, complex, progressive rock. This deluxe 12-disc box set focuses on the band's albums from this period and up through the early '80s (when they began to produce more pop-oriented material), making it a definitive portrait of the band at one of its many creative peaks.
But while the original music is crucial, it's only one of several draws of 1976-1982. Each album features crisply remastered sound, allowing the sophistication of the arrangements and the quality of the musicianship to truly pop. Moreover, each album is paired with a DVD featuring a 5.1 audio mix and extra video material, including interviews, promo videos, and live footage. Additionally, there is a bonus disc of singles, rarities, and B-sides, as well as a lavish, 48-page, photo-packed book. This beautifully assembled box is a must for Genesis fans, and a great way for casual ...
| | Hector Lavoe Man And His Music CDs (2007)
Tu Me Haces Falta
$18.05 No one made salsa great more than Willie Colón, but a large part of what made Colón great was Héctor Lavoe. "El Cantante" was the greatest vocalist in salsa history, a man whose gift for vocal improvisation and rhythm was in similar company with James Brown and Ray Charles -- and precious few others. He sang his lines with the same melodic dexterity as the greatest jazz singers (with more resemblance to an instrument than a voice). Also, he played off Colón's sprightly arrangements and punchy trombone lines to perfection. In fact, it's difficult to tell who inspired the other more. Still, it's clear they did most of their best work together -- at least five of their albums belong in the canon of great salsa: La Gran Fuga, Cosa Nuestra, The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, Lo Mato, and El Juicio. La Voz, the two-disc compilation of Fania recordings, spends most of its first half reprising Lavoe and Colón's greatest sides, then focuses on Lavoe's excellent "solo" career (including ...
| | Kennedy Acoustic Heartland 2 CD (2007)
Tu Me Haces Falta
$16.45 A follow-up to the first Acoustic Heartland project but definitely not just "more of the same"... James is featured on 4 solo guitar tracks. Allan is featured on 4 solo piano tracks. James Kennedy - known for his contemporary and straight ahead jazz , latin, rock/fusion - shows us that he has a "quiet" side too... demonstrating another aspect to his style of "Midwestern Contemporary Music". This distinctly Midwestern flavor sets James apart in a market full of clichés and clones. Allan lives and works in rural Mt. Vernon, Iowa and composes piano music in his own unique style. Allan cites his musical influences as classical, jazz, and even a bit of polka music from his childhood. His impressionistic compositions also clearly reflect his rural surroundings as well as his extensive travels in Russia and Belarus.Bio: Allan Mallie was born an Iowa farm boy. He and his siblings loved it when their father would pull out his tenor saxaphone and play a few tunes. The children also enjoyed listening to the radio "Sunday Morning Polka Hour " with their mother. Allan had a few months of piano lessons and then turned to the saxaphone. He played in concert and marching band, excelled at solo and ensemble contests and loved to improvise solos in the high school jazz band. He also had leading roles in "The Music Man", "Annie Get Your Gun", and "Hello Dolly". Although he did ...

| | Hanoi Rocks Two Steps From The Move CD (1984)
Tu Me Haces Falta
$6.25 Had Razzle not died so tragically, there's every reason to believe that Hanoi Rocks could easily have taken things to the next level of hard rock glory. As it is, Two Steps from the Move will have to remain a testimony to what might have been instead of a further springboard. "Up Around the Bend" may have been little more than an easy way of getting a chart hit, but they still got one nonetheless, and the energetic way the band handled the CCR classic showed they were no slouches with the material. Working with Bob Ezrin was the more notable change here; with Dale Buffin Griffin and "Overend" Pete Watts having given Hanoi Rocks their best production yet with Back to the Mystery City, the legendary hard rock producer showed he still had the touch with his work on Two Steps from the Move. He also seemed ...
