Harpist, Julie Ann Smith, is one of America's most exciting young harpists today. Silver medalist in the 2004 USA International Harp Competition and Bronze medalist in 2001, she has become identified as a musician with vitality and charm. An active recitalist and soloist with orchestra, she has performed with numerous ensembles in the US, as well as given performances in Italy and Japan. Currently Principal Harpist of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, she has held similar positions with the Milwaukee Symphony and the New World Symphony Orchestra in Miami, Florida. She is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with Yolanda Kondonassis. This CD, The Rhapsodic Harp, is Ms. Smith's first solo album. It contains a range of 20th century classical music that explores a variety of colors and tones on the harp.
