Belay My Last Downfall Songs Downfall Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) Awesome Metal Album One thing I hate doing is putting a band like Belay My Last into a specific genre. BML coul be desrcibed as deathcore, metalcore, or maybe even death metal (although they definitely have some hardcore undertones.) This album is awesome, however. The vocals sound like the Cookie Monster and a demon from hell had a lovechild with throat cancer, the drums are rediculousy technical with plenty of hyper speed double bass, the guitars are amazing with an extra helping of fancy fretwork and the unlike many metal bands, the bass is audible and very technical. Many heavy metal elitists would shun this band for their use of breakdowns, but the mosh parts of each song could level a building. Belay My Last are definitely one of the best new metal bands around these days. If you're a fan of older Between The Buried And Me, All Shall Perish and Whitechapel, you will love this band. | | Suicide Silence Cleansing CD (2008) Bonus CD
Downfall
$10.55 California's Suicide Silence has digested the history of extreme metal from black, to death, to doom, to thrash, to hardcore, and everywhere in between, and synthesized it into a potent mixture. Thundering tracks like "Hands of a Killer" reel like a man on fire, staggering in slow motion to every line of the scorched vocals. "No Pity For a Coward" builds methodically, with an insistent beat and snarling, snapping guitars, and "Bludgeoned to Death" does something close to that to the listener. It's an aggressive and exhausting album that refuses to let up under any circumstances.

| | Winds Of Plague Decimate The Weak CD (2008)
Downfall
$9.99 On DECIMATE THE WEAK, its first full-length outing for the Century Media label, the Californian death metal band Winds of Plague unleashes a doom-laden set gilded with plenty of guitar heroics. While Jonathan Cooke serves as the group's mouthpiece, the real fireworks come from six-stringers Nick Eash and Nick Piunno, who dispense intricate lines ...
| | Brain Drill Apocalyptic Feasting CD (2008)
Downfall
$9.69 Sporting a name that accurately describes their sound, Cali death metal scientists Brain Drill have put together an unstoppable tidal wave of precise destruction on APOCALYPTIC FEASTING. With technical prowess that borders on unprecedented, the musicians in Brain Drill, particularly bassist Jeff Hughell and guitarist Dylan Ruskin, step neatly out of the death metal pack. Songs like the title track and the vertiginous "Sadistic Abductive" seem to defy the laws of physics with their dizzying guitar runs and hair-trigger tempo shifts. It's not all hard science, however, as Brain Drill digs up blood and guts on every song too.

| | Misery Signals Controller CD (2008)
Downfall
$11.75 With CONTROLLERS, Misery Signals offers another crushing slab of music that alternates between complex, math-ey metalcore and melancholy, Pink Floyd-esque ambience. Throughout, the album is rife with the expected machine-gun guitar riffing and speedy double-kick drum figures, but pairs them with cleanly picked melodic lines and shimmering arpeggios. ...

| | Synthpop For A Darkened Room 3 CD (2005)
Downfall
$6.39 Synthpop (or electronic music in general) is often perceived by the general public as some kind of computer-generated sound without a soul or heart. Perhaps it is the false notion that any kind of music that is "programmed" somehow removes the need for creativity or musicianship. But most likely it is simply because they are sadly unexposed to the emotional, deep synthpop found here. The "Synthpop for a Darkened Room" series is intended to spotlight the emotional, melancholy, or romantic side of synthpop, where the songs are written to move the mind ...

| | Rob Zombie Live CD (2007) Edited
Downfall
$10.65 Rob Zombie is nothing if not theatrical, so he's in his element when unleashing his larger-than-life persona in front of an audience.
Accordingly, ZOMBIE LIVE provides an excellent way to soak up the Zombie experience to its fullest. Rampaging through a set-list of crowdpleasers, the king of horror rock gives his fans what they're bloodthirsty for, in no uncertain terms. The basic Zombie sound mixes thrash metal, punk, and a touch of industrial flavor with a spiritual debt to shock-rock O.G. Alice Cooper. The cumulative effect of all these demonic doings is akin to inviting Satan over for an air-guitar faceoff. Everybody wins.
