For his third solo album, underrated West Coast gangsta Dub-C split with Def Jam, and signed to his old Westside Connection bandmate Ice Cube's label. He's joined by Ice, the Game, producer Rick Rock, and a host of others on gritty, cinematic ... Full Descriptiontales of ghetto life, leavened with touches of humor and masterful, R&B-flecked musicality. It's not so much the beats or the production that make a WC album, it's the deft, hard-hitting rhymes, found in abundance here on tracks like "This Is Los Angeles" and "West Coast Voodoo."
As rap has become ubiquitous, its artists have moved slowly but steadily away from the street-centered mentality that made the music so potent in the 1980s and early 1990s. Realizing that rap has lost its edge and intensity, Los Angeles rap icon and Westside Connection member WC returns rap to its creative roots -- exemplary lyricism, conceptual greatness, bone-crushing production -- on his masterful new album, Guilty By Affiliation.
Personnel: Crazy Toones (scratches).
Additional personnel: Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, The Game, Butch Cassidy.

Guilty By Affiliation album
$14.45 DJ Quik is the essence of West Coast Hip-Hop, having been there from the early days when Compton was asserting itself as the voice of rap as the 1980s bled into the 1990s, and TRAUMA, the rapper/producer's seventh album and first in 3 years, finds Quik as relevant and potent in both lyrics and ...

Guilty By Affiliation CD music
$12.45 With THE SOUND OF REVENGE, Chamillionaire's 2005 Universal debut, the Houston-based rapper makes the most of his major-label deal, which includes his own Chamillitary imprint. On SOR, Paul Wall's former collaborator amps up that duo's signature chopped-and-screwed mixtape sound with heavy-duty arrangements that expertly showcase Chamillionaire's deep, husky voice. The introductory title track is marked by machine-gun beats, and establishes the album's fierce, restless mood. But the disc's highlight is the utterly infectious single "Turn It Up," which boasts Scott Storch's distinctive chiming ...

$13.59 Long departed for lucrative solo careers, Snoop Dogg's protégé duo of Daz Dillinger and Kurupt, better known as Tha Dogg Pound, reunite for CALI IZ ACTIVE, the duo's first official album since their sophomore effort, 2002. Crossing up their long-held West Coast style with technically superior production by Swizz Beats, Southern crunk courtesy of David Banner and Jazze Pha, and many more high-profile guest shots, CALI IZ ACTIVE ...

Guilty By Affiliation songs
$14.79 The guest roster glitters with all-stars, including Snoop Dogg, Dre, and crunk king Lil Jon. Cube's familiar delivery still crackles with fierce intensity, especially on the politically militant album opener "Why We Thugs," which takes the federal government to task for the condition of America's ghettos. Yet the album isn't strictly polemical: "Smoke Some Weed" has a self-explanatory message, and its slinky, Middle Eastern vibe boasts one of the album's best beats. In all, LAUGH NOW weighs in as Ice Cube's strongest album since THE PREDATOR, and underscores the rapper's status as a hip-hop icon.
The decade following 1992's THE PREDATOR found Ice Cube releasing a handful of mediocre albums (none of which lived up to the ...

Best DUB C album EVER!! Absolutely SICK!!!!! Veteran West Coast O.G, WC, spits straight FIRE from beginning to end on this album!! Ice Cube handles the production, and let me say, does an amazing job. WC's lyrics are tight, clever, and just straight FLOW with the clever beats by Ice Cube.
This is without a doubt the best West Coast album of the year. So glad WC finally got his chance to SHINE after all these years of being in the background.
I really like how Ice Cube resurrected LENCH MOB as the name of his label, and now is totally Independent. Thanks to Cube, WC finally should have his time...
