Three years after the release of their breakthrough smash FEELS LIKE TODAY, STILL FEELS GOOD continues the winning streak of Nashville trio Rascal Flatts. Although their music is rooted in traditional bluegrass and the pure harmonies of the first wave of country bands from the Carter Family to the Stanley Brothers, STILL FEELS GOOD ranges even further afield of those roots than their previous work. "Bob That Head," a flirtation with country rap along the lines of Big and Rich, and the R&B smoothness of "She Goes All the Way" (which features a guest vocal by actor and singer Jamie Foxx) are the most pop-oriented songs on the album. Elsewhere, "Help Me Remember" and "No Reins" work the power ballad angle of Bon Jovi's country crossover LOST HIGHWAY, and "Winner At A Losing Game" and "Secret Smile" are the album's most traditional country tunes.
all begins when the lights go down. For Gary LeVox, Joe Don Rooney and Jay DeMarcus, it has been that way since they were playing for a handful of people in a club in Nashville's Printers Alley. These days, of course, they play for thousands of screaming fans a night, drawn by state-of-the-art production and sound, and by spectacular vocal harmonies in service to an ever-expanding catalogue of hits. In between, it was the magic of those performances that catapulted Rascal Flatts into the front ranks of entertainers in all genres.
By any measure, Rascal Flatts is in elite territory. They are the reigning 2006 CMA, ACM and CMT Vocal Group of the Year. In 2005 they added Billboard and R&R Artist of the Year trophies as well. The trio also picked up its first three Grammy nominations in 2005, and their "Bless The Broken Road" received the Grammy for Country Song of the Year. Coming off the biggest selling artist album of 2006, Rascal Flatts is geared up for their brand new album coming on September 25.

Still Feels Good
$9.99 Kenny Chesney titled his 11th studio album JUST WHO I AM: POETS AND PIRATES out of the belief that modern country musicians contain a bit of both, due to their artistic nature and their peripheral, "on the road again" lifestyles. The album features elements of both, combining some of Chesney's sweetest love songs with a handful of rowdy country rockers for balance. One of the latter, "Wild Ride," is a manic party tune featuring the Eagles' Joe Walsh for just the right shade of dissolute atmosphere. The other duet, the twangy working man's anthem "Shiftwork," features George Strait in his comfortable new role as ...

Still Feels Good
$15.19 It has been said that watching Valerie Smith perform is "like being an eye-witness to a thermonuclear explosion!" Her boundless energy and explosive delivery ensures that audiences are treated to unique and memorable performances every time. Valerie's fascination with music began at the age of five. Her mother, who played bass and sang, and her father, a dobro player, introduced her to bluegrass and country music in her hometown of Holt, Mo. It was there that Valerie began listening to and identifying with such pioneer artists as the Carter Family, the Louvin Brothers, Emmy Lou Harris, Kitty Wells, Hank Williams and Lorretta Lynn. Valerie earned her degree in vocal music education from the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri in Kansas City where she studied jazz, pop, broadway and opera. Her love of bluegrass music never dimmed, however, and she interwove the music into plays and musicals for her elementary school. Eventually Valerie and her husband, Kraig, made the move to Nashville. They became regulars at Bell Buckle Café in Bell Buckle, Tenn., where both participated in writer's nights. Valerie found a home for her music there and became a regular with the "Front Porch Pickers". This was the start of her association with J. Gregory Heinike. Together, the Smiths and Heinike formed Bell Buckle Records. Valerie recorded her albums "Patchwork Heart" and "Turtle Wings" on Bell Buckle Records, with Alan O'Bryant, from the Nashville Bluegrass Band, as producer. She performed on the Grand Ole Opry as a guest of Charlie Louvin. The cut, "Red Clay Halo," a Gillian Welch song, rose quickly on the charts, reaching ...
