Three years after the release of their breakthrough smash FEELS LIKE TODAY, STILL FEELS GOOD continues the winning streak of Nashville trio Rascal Flatts. Although their music is rooted in traditional bluegrass and the pure harmonies of the first wave of country bands from the Carter Family to the Stanley Brothers, STILL FEELS GOOD ranges even further afield of those roots than their previous work. "Bob That Head," a flirtation with country rap along the lines of Big and Rich, and the R&B smoothness of "She Goes All the Way" (which features a guest vocal by actor and singer Jamie Foxx) are the most pop-oriented songs on the album. Elsewhere, "Help Me Remember" and "No Reins" work the power ballad angle of Bon Jovi's country crossover LOST HIGHWAY, and "Winner At A Losing Game" and "Secret Smile" are the album's most traditional country tunes.
all begins when the lights go down. For Gary LeVox, Joe Don Rooney and Jay DeMarcus, it has been that way since they were playing for a handful of people in a club in Nashville's Printers Alley. These days, of course, they play for thousands of screaming fans a night, drawn by state-of-the-art production and sound, and by spectacular vocal harmonies in service to an ever-expanding catalogue of hits. In between, it was the magic of those performances that catapulted Rascal Flatts into the front ranks of entertainers in all genres.
By any measure, Rascal Flatts is in elite territory. They are the reigning 2006 CMA, ACM and CMT Vocal Group of the Year. In 2005 they added Billboard and R&R Artist of the Year trophies as well. The trio also picked up its first three Grammy nominations in 2005, and their "Bless The Broken Road" received the Grammy for Country Song of the Year. Coming off the biggest selling artist album of 2006, Rascal Flatts is geared up for their brand new album coming on September 25.
Note: STILL FEELS GOOD was also released in a special limited edition two-disc package that included a bonus DVD. Just Average I have to agree with the reviewer that stated that songs are no actual hits at all and 'Me and My Gang' was better.
I stand by the up mentioned - what is outstanding country music, if not a sequel of dreaming, being romantic moments or shots of adrenaline & morale boosters?! This, depending on the genre of music composed...
Only tracks 1,2 & 13 are really to be praised, rest are only display of very good instrumental skills of the band and supporting artists - not enough to make things work and stand the album out.
I have to say, it "still Feels Good' when listening to 'Me and my Gang'. Submitted by pro.realestate (Bucharest, Romania) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Still Feels Good album
$15.19 Valerie Smith released her debut in 1997, joining the growing ranks of female bluegrass performers like Rhonda Vincent and Alison Krauss. Like her colleagues, Smith stakes her claim to bluegrass turf by surrounding herself with good players and filling each song with emotive vocals. On her third outing, Smith is joined by Liberty Pike, a solid band made up of mandolinist John Wesley Lee, guitarist Stephen Mougin, bassist Daniel Hardin, banjoist Randall Conn, and fiddler Becky Buller. Surrounded by these players and their fine harmony, Smith cuts loose on a number of up-tempo pieces like "Jacob Spence," "Let's Let It Go," and "I'm Lookin' for a Man." The harmony works especially well when Buller joins Smith on "Sarah." The two weave their vocals together on each chorus, adding something special to this jubilant song. Smith adds an emotional intensity to slow pieces like the title cut and her self-penned (with husband Kraig Smith) "Where the Blue Bells Grow." There are also fun songs like "Love Wagon," where Smith manages to sing the line, "If I can manage to keep from going bananas/Kicking that old love monkey, spoken like a true love junkie." No Summer Storm offers a fine introduction to Smith's music and will please anyone addicted to good contemporary bluegrass. ~ Ronnie D. Lankford, Jr.
It has been said that watching Valerie Smith perform is "like being an eye-witness to a thermonuclear explosion!" Her boundless energy and explosive delivery ensures that audiences are treated to unique and memorable performances every time. Valerie's fascination with music began at the age of five. Her mother, who played bass and sang, and her father, a dobro player, introduced her to bluegrass and country music in her hometown of Holt, Mo. It was there that Valerie began listening to and identifying with such pioneer artists as the Carter Family, the Louvin Brothers, Emmy Lou Harris, Kitty Wells, Hank Williams and Lorretta Lynn. Valerie earned her degree in vocal music education from the Conservatory of Music at the University ...
