The re-launched Stax label is an appropriate home for neo-soulster Angie Stone. Her 2007 album THE ART OF LOVE & WAR, released on Stax, nods to classic styles, blending funk, soul, balladry, and R&B in one tasty package. The appearance of soul ... Full Descriptiongreat Betty Wright on the album highlight, "Baby," only strengthen the retro vibe.
Yet THE ART OF LOVE & WAR is contemporary through and through. Shimmering with a modern, digital production sheen, the album is clearly steeped in urban contemporary R&B, more lush and languid than stripped down and raw. Stone is no mere puppet of the past (and apparently neither is the revamped Stax): her voice, delivery, and feel are all her own, whether on butter-smooth love songs ("Make It Last") or hard-swinging groovers ("Play Wit It").

I heard Angie sing title song "Sometimes" on the Michael Baisden show and immediately thought; its a must HAVE. Angie you've always kept it real and this really shows your continued love and growth in what you do. Keep it up I know He has more stored inside of you.

as always angie stone is stellar with a gift for ministering through music.this is love and pain at it's purest and hope for redemption on the horizons.this is ,for me, your best album yet. keep doing what you do....keeping women inspired,empowered and giving the vibe of self-love always. my favorite songs are"the reasons","take everything in" "baby" and "make it last"

ANGIE STONE, IS ALWAYS SINGING SONGS THAT TOUCH YOUR HEART AND SOUL, AND SHE KEEP OUT DOING HERSELF. SHE IS SO ANOINTED. THAT'S WHEN YOU KNOW YOU HAVE THE GIFT FOR SONG. THE ART OF LOVE AND WAR IS THE BEST OF THE BEST. ANGIE KEEP MAKING IT DO WHAT IT DO.
