| | Rickie Lee Jones Pirates (1981) (Import) Omr
Novembre CD music
$28.29 PIRATES is also available with the album RICKIE LEE JONES on one cassette.
This is a Super Audio CD playable only on Super Audio CD players.
Rickie Lee Jones's second album, PIRATES, continues where her self-titled debut left off. With a record built upon storytelling, Jones resumes her role of poet laureate to the disenchanted and disconsolate. A strongly dynamic outing, the emotion of each song resonates in the detailed arrangements and freewheeling improvisations, the latter best epitomized by the funky party song, "Woody and Dutch on the Slow Train to Peking."
However, PIRATES is not a celebratory album. For the most part, this record is darker than its predecessor, and this tone yields even richer insights into Jones's art. For example, "Lucky Guy," a song Jones wrote about her relationship with singer Tom Waits, tells of love gone wrong and the resulting feeling of abandonment. Another poignant ...
| | Mike Bloomfield Super Session CD (1968) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Novembre music CDs
$10.15 A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's Shuffle," "You Don't Love Me"), to heady jams ("His Holy Modal Majesty"), to big-band jazz ("Harvey's Tune").
All the tunes make effective templates for the kind off-the-cuff music-making that in less capable hands might have resulted in simple noodling. In fact, although Bloomfield and Stills don't play together on any of the cuts (Bloomfield played on one side of the original LP, Stills on the other), all three principals get off lots of good licks and producer Kooper has some interesting tricks up his sleeve, as in the over-the-top phasing he lavishes on "You Don't Love Me." The only real disappointment here is that Stills, a far better singer than Kooper, never opens his mouth.
Those familiar with the Live Adventures album these two recorded at the Fillmore West know how brilliant they could be on stage, and here's another gem, recorded at the Fillmore East this time and featuring 'One Way Out,' 'It's My Own Fault' (with Bloomfield trading licks with Johnny Winter...Johnny was signed to Columbia after this gig!). Newly remastered & now with 4 bonus tracks, 'Albert's Shuffle' (2002 Remix w/o Horns), 'Season of the Witch.' (2002 Remix w/o Horns), 'Blues ...
| | Lacuna Coil Shallow Life CD (2009)
Novembre songs
$13.69 On Lacuna Coil's highly anticipated 2009 album, SHALLOW LIFE, the Italian metal band presents one of its most accessible outings without toning down its signature heavy, dramatic sound. Enlisting renowned producer Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Avril Lavigne), the ensemble seems intent on broadening its appeal with more straightforward songs that are less rooted in European classicism, as evinced on the surging ...
| | Tool Lateralus CD (2000)
Novembre album
$14.95 "Schism" won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
Approaching Tool's LATERALUS with a casual ear would be a careless endeavor, to say the least. The sheer magnitude of the musical and emotional textures is as heady as it is primal. Standing out as one of the defining traits of the Tool sound is Justin Chancellor's hauntingly melodic bass playing, which often launches into a role reversal with the mountainous guitar work of Adam Jones. The best examples of said phenomenon are found in "The Grudge" and "Reflection." Drummer Danny Carey slips easily into the pocket, fearlessly tackling odd time signatures and tasty percussion like few contemporary metal percussionists (best ...
| | Judas Priest Sad Wings Of Destiny CD (1975)
Novembre CD music
$10.15 Frontman Rob Halford has considered this to be Judas Priest's SGT. PEPPER, and it's easy to see why. The album expanded upon the group's debut by tackling a variety of styles, utilizing dynamics to striking effect, and establishing the essential guitar interplay between Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing. "Victim Of Changes" may be forever known for its snarling riffs and Halford's startling final scream, but its subdued mid-section enhances the power of those elements. "The Ripper" offers up Victorian ...

When he begins a piece there is no other music, no predecessor to his work, no other sound. he reaches his environment and his interaction with others to the barest minimum. And listens to the music within. That is why the music you hear from him sounds so unlike anything else. It isn't really meant to be Music. But Art in its purest sense. Not meant to touch Everyone. But a discerning Few.RECORDERD - TURNKEY ...

Novembre CD music
$15.19 Heartfelt… genuine… quirky. That’s what people say about Ryan’s music. Armed with an acoustic guitar and a penchant for honesty, this newcomer to the singer/songwriter scene is poised to touch listeners across the country with his refreshing brand of folk pop. With a unique voice that many liken to Cat Stevens, Ryan brings a gentle vulnerability to his raw lyrics. Aching heart one minute, and wry smile the next, Ryan has the unique ability to make audiences laugh and cry… sometimes within the same song. After honing his craft for 7 years, Ryan put his most memorable material together for his debut record, Monkeys & Ice Cream. Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Erik Eldénius, the songs tackle themes as varied as gay relationships, life as a nomad, addiction, and ...
