As the lead singer of the Jackson 5, Michael Jackson had already been labeled a legend at a young age; but OFF THE WALL introduced the world to the adult Michael Jackson, and proved that he was still very much worthy of that label. It was the real beginning for Michael as a solo artist, and opened the doors for his next album THRILLER, which would become the ...

| | Best Of The Moody Blues CD (1996)
Radio Action music CDs
$12.65 THE BEST OF THE MOODY BLUES contains vintage photographs and a conversation with Justin Hayward.
Recorded between 1964 and 1988. Includes liner notes by John Reed.
By keeping it simple and sticking to the hits, this collection successfully relates the story of this pioneering band. The Moody Blues began as a Gerry & the Pacemakers-like, R&B-influenced band fronted by sad-voiced singer Denny Laine, who is heard here on "Go Now." Laine was replaced by Justin Hayward, keyboardist Mike Pinder brought in a Mellotron, and the band hooked up with the London Symphony Orchestra to make the first orchestral-rock album DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED, from which "Tuesday Afternoon" and "Nights in White Satin" are included on this album.
Over the next few years the band banged out several gem albums that were full of a distinctive ...

| | Nickelback Dark Horse CD (2008)
Radio Action album
$15.65 Nickleback's sixth album doesn't stake out new ground, but this Canadian post-grunge quartet is known for their allegiance to old-school hard rock values. That allegiance is borne out on 2008's DARK HORSE, a collection of riff-driven rockers and power ballads that thrives on simple chord progressions, distortion-heavy guitars, and lyrics about partying and other carnal delights. The singalong single "Gotta Be Somebody" may flirt with radio-ready pop, but most of DARK HORSE revels in denim-clad, bad boy swagger.
It's ...

| | Rose Moore You Will Fly CD (2007)
Radio Action music CDs
$9.85 Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Rose Moore started her music career at MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis, Minnesota after her family relocated. Formal training in theory/composition, piano, guitar and later voice all directed her onto a recording career in the late nineties with her band Cherokee Rose. Two subsequent independent CD releases earned local, regional and national songwriting awards. Selected as one of twelve artists to perform at the SXSW Native American Showcase brought her to the attention of John Wooler of then Virgin Records US. On the strength of her 15 minute set, he selected her to do a re-mix of the track "Dawa" from the internationally acclaimed CD "Sacred Spirits", which became a featured track on the 1998 release of Pure Moods II. Working with producer The Brave, Rose later contributed two tracks to the follow-up CD, "Sacred Spirits II".Three years later, further collaboration with The Brave led to work on Rose's debut CD for Higher Octave Music. Landing in Frankfurt, Germany on the morning of September 11, 2001, Rose spent an anxious ten days working on the CD not knowing when she would be allowed to return after airports closed across the US. One day before her return flight home, the airports opened and she returned with master tracks of what would become her CD "Spirit of Silence", released by Higher Octave in 2002.Rose spent the next two years writing new songs and touring to support the "Spirit of Silence" release. Performing at WOMAD in 2004, she met London-based producer Nick Hogarth. His creative use of world rhythm and keen pop sensibilities steered ...
