Only his fourth studio album, NOEL finds Josh Groban already tackling that canonical mainstay of the adult contemporary singer, the Christmas album. As always, NOEL is a masterfully performed set, balanced neatly between pop standards and the more operatic material that showcases Groban's roots. Interestingly, he sounds best on the most familiar holiday standards, like "I'll Be Home For Christmas" and Mel Torme's "The Christmas Song," both of which he invests with casual, jazzy phrasing, providing a welcome disinclination for the usual Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby homages that many other young singers in the style fall into. Even this early into his career, Groban clearly has a deeply held sense of who he is as a singer and interpreter, and this lovely collection is proof that he's one of the most exciting adult contemporary stars to appear in ages.
Bringing Josh Groban's majestic yet intimate voice to Christmas music is truly a gift this holiday season. The young Adult Contemporary star's fourth studio album brings together the traditional such as 'Silent Night' with the contemporary such as 'I'll Be Home For Christmas' and the new, 'Thankful'. Featuring duets with Country's Faith Hill and R&B's Brian McKnight, and inspirational music's master choir, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and produced by the illustrious David Foster the album's wide appeal promises that a timeless Christmas music classic will be beneath the tree this year.

ANOTHER WINNER FOR JOSH WOW,Stunning voice again. Josh Groban has another hit with this cd. Old classics brought back to life with the voice of an angel. Josh's "I'll be home for Christmas" with the soliders from Iraq or Afghanistan just brings you to tears. And a new song "Thankful" really makes you think that you should be thankful for what you have. Great job Josh. Love, love, love this cd and looking forward to your next. YOU ROCK!!!!!!!! True Spirit of Christmas Noel is nothing less than a pure masterpiece. Josh Groban has the voice of an angel. The combination of his voice and the music selection is just beautiful, and brings tears to my eyes each time I listen to it. If you find yourself having a hard time recapturing the spirit of Christmas, this young man will help you find it again. Submitted by Agnes Connor (Radford) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Stunningly Beautiful & Poignant Josh's has shown himself to be the vocalist par excellance and Noel will be, without a doubt, the best Christmas album ever produced. Josh is in a class by himself vocally with powerful vocals, depth of soul and expression in the lyrical way in which he sings. A voice for the ages and he has only begun. We are in for a wonderful journey in music with him. Panis Angelicus, Ave Maria, Silent Night and O Come All Ye Faithful are magnificent! I'll be Home for Christmas with the messages from the troops is so special it makes the heart cry; You cannot name a favorite as they are all 5 stars and favorites!_jacy

One of a Kind Josh Groban can make any piece of music beautiful and meaningful, and songs of Christmas are already so. The combination is a natural, especially on Ave Maria. The only imperfection I can see on this c.d. is a personal preference - some of the song choices could be better, but there is a variety. Vocally, as with all Josh Groban performances, this is a 5-star recording. Submitted by camiocity (Maine) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Noel album
$13.99 What would happen if members of Savatage decided to write some Christmas songs? Easy: Trans-Siberian Orchestra. This "supergroup" is the brainchild of Jon Oliva and Paul O'Neill (respectively the leader-keyboardist and the producer of Savatage). They hired Al Pitrelli (Asia, Savatage) to play guitars, Robert Kinkel to help with keyboards, John Middleton (also a member of Savatage) on bass, and Jeff Plate on drums. Lead vocals are shared by six vocalists, while some of the backing vocals are handled by Savatage lead singer Zachary Stevens. Christmas Eve and Other Stories is a concept album: all the songs are built as chapters of a book, each telling part of a larger story. The plot here is of a young angel sent down to Earth to find and bring back to the Lord "the one thing that best represents everything good that has been done in the name of this day." The angel's quest takes him all over the world, through Russia and Sarajevo, until he finally hears the prayer of a father. This last piece ...

$13.29 Josh Groban's meteoric rise to stardom began when hit producer David Foster selected him as a last-minute replacement at the dress rehearsal for the 1999 Grammy Awards, where the then-17-year-old singer stood in for Andrea Bocelli in a duet with Celine Dion. The rest, as they say, is history. But can the precocious baritone truly compete with the more seasoned powerhouses of the Classical Crossover scene?
Groban's self-titled debut album validates Foster's prescience and proves that the young vocalist is more than able to hold his own. He moves confidently through an eclectic program with a poise that belies his youth and relative inexperience. He uses his warm voice to great effect in a variety of settings provided by veteran songwriters such as Richard Marx, Albert Hammond, Carole Bayer Sager, and Linda Thompson, ...

Noel album
$12.85 Expectations for vocalist Josh Groban's third release ran high, especially given the phenomenal success of his sophomore effort, CLOSER, which reached number one on the Billboard charts. Like Andrea Bocelli, Groban treads the line between classical, operatic singing, and crossover pop. AWAKE manages the synthesis beautifully. With its strong batch of songs, and Groban's voice continuing to develop, the album may even best its predecessor.
Opener "Mai," sung in Italian, sets the tone for the album. ...
