Only his fourth studio album, NOEL finds Josh Groban already tackling that canonical mainstay of the adult contemporary singer, the Christmas album. As always, NOEL is a masterfully performed set, balanced neatly between pop standards and the more operatic material that showcases Groban's roots. Interestingly, he sounds best on the most familiar holiday standards, like "I'll Be Home For Christmas" and Mel Torme's "The Christmas Song," both of which he invests with casual, jazzy phrasing, providing a welcome disinclination for the usual Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby homages that many other young singers in the style fall into. Even this early into his career, Groban clearly has a deeply held sense of who he is as a singer and interpreter, and this lovely collection is proof that he's one of the most exciting adult contemporary stars to appear in ages. Noel Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Listen to "Thankful" all year long This is one of those Christmas collections that I'll want to replay parts of, even when the holiday season is over. It's so joyful and uplifting, especially the duet with B. McKnight. The beautiful carol "Angels We Have Heard on High" starts out softly and by the end it's truly exhilarating. Sometimes I play that track three times consecutively while driving along! Submitted by Patricia (Akron, OH, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.

ANOTHER WINNER FOR JOSH WOW,Stunning voice again. Josh Groban has another hit with this cd. Old classics brought back to life with the voice of an angel. Josh's "I'll be home for Christmas" with the soliders from Iraq or Afghanistan just brings you to tears. And a new song "Thankful" really makes you think that you should be thankful for what you have. Great job Josh. Love, love, love this cd and looking forward to your next. YOU ROCK!!!!!!!! | | Josh Groban CD (2001)
Noel
$11.19 Josh Groban's meteoric rise to stardom began when hit producer David Foster selected him as a last-minute replacement at the dress rehearsal for the 1999 Grammy Awards, where the then-17-year-old singer stood in for Andrea Bocelli in a duet with Celine Dion. The rest, as they say, is history. But can the precocious baritone truly compete with the more seasoned powerhouses of the Classical Crossover scene?
Groban's self-titled debut album validates Foster's prescience and proves that the young vocalist is more than able to hold his own. He moves confidently through an eclectic program with a poise that belies his youth and relative inexperience. He uses his warm voice to great effect in a variety of settings provided by veteran songwriters such as Richard Marx, Albert Hammond, Carole Bayer Sager, and Linda Thompson, among others. Highlights include a poignant reading of Don McLean's "Vincent," ...
| | Josh Groban Closer CD (2003)

$10.85 Powerhouse vocalist Josh Groban may not be all things to all people, but he's certainly many things to many people. An international sensation, Groban is a Broadway-ready belter, romantic crooner, and classical/pop crossover phenomenon. Groban largely shies away from the more operatic side of his musical personality on CLOSER, leaning more towards a lush, cosmopolitan style that finds him singing in Italian, French, Spanish, ...

| | Michael Buble Let It Snow CD (2003) Extended Play
Noel
$6.59 After establishing himself as the 21st century Harry Connick, Jr., young vocalist Michael Buble made his recording-debut year a prolific one, by capping it off with this five-song Christmas EP, in addition to his pair of full-length releases from earlier in 2003. Like Mr. Connick (who hadn't exactly thrown in the towel himself at that point, releasing his own Christmas album a month-and-a-half earlier) Buble aims to extend the classic Frank Sinatra-style approach to pop music well beyond the life-spans of its first-generation exponents. Accordingly, he lends his smooth-as-silk voice and tasteful phrasing to evergreens (no pun intended) such ...

$9.25 The lyrics of "Moving" deal with journeys trying to get some meaning, without minding the goal. Only the departure and its probable reasoning, the act of "going" photographed in its essence of motion. The arrival is excluded, it doesn't exist, just because it represents the end, the result of the journey. And the journey has no result, because its aim is just the motion. The journey can never end because symbolizes the inner walk of the man and makes the sense of life. "Moving" refers to the journey as rebellion, as declaration of independence.Journey as statement of autonomy. As the way to knowledge of our soul, of our aspiration, of our relationship with the world. To leave means to turn our back on something that is not part of us, to rebel against mind and body wait-and-see policy, that chokes the natural human bent for curiosity, discovery and dreaming. The departure as breaking point. The motion as incessant mean of experimenting, eternal source of emotions. The motion as search of new meetings, but also as a way to look for loneliness ...
