(2 Customer Reviews)
Modern southern gospel mixed with the pop gloss of CCM, LETTING GO is another fine release by the Crabb Family, one of the most consistent acts in the style. From the R&B-flavored opener, "Give You Praise," to more traditional tunes like "Holy One" and "Give It All To Him," the five-part harmonies and soulful lead vocals of the Crabb brothers and sisters remain at the forefront of these smooth, expertly produced tunes.
The Crabb Family: Aaron Crabb (acoustic guitar); Jason Crabb (electric guitar); Adam Crabb (harmonica).
Personnel: The Crabb Family (background vocals).
Additional personnel: Blurr the Lines (vocals); Danny Parks (acoustic guitar); Zachary Smith (electric guitar); TJ Herrick (saxophone); Justin Ellis (electric piano); Lorie Sykes, Tre Corley (bass guitar); Micah Schweinsberg (drums); Frankie Chew, Terah Penhollow, Paul Corley (hand claps); Andy Corley (percussion); Wess Morgan (background vocals).

Letting Go music CDs
$6.09 Popular songs are often associated with the vocalists that made them famous but few artists actually have the distinction of having a "theme" song along the lines of Bob Hope with "Thanks for the Memories." Even fewer can claim to have two theme songs attached to them and Andy Williams is one of those fortunate stars. After "Moon River" became forever linked to Williams, he recorded a holiday song for his first Christmas album that gave him a yuletide hit and theme song. "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" was the right song at the right time for Williams when he began to perform it on his highly successful NBC Christmas specials that featured the whole Williams clan. Both the song and the television specials were so memorable, it wasn't long before ...

The CD is primarily a mix of authentic Afrikan drums and percussion with those of Latin America, and the Caribbean. The result of fusing these cultural backgrounds can only be felt by the listeners to Ijinle Ilu, for as sages say:-" the proof is in the pudding".Although Sikiru and Val jointly produced Ijinle Ilu, several other top-rated artists collaborated in making the enterprise a success. The focus, according to the producers, is to offer the listening public something special - something they can dance to, and derive pleasure from. Something they can use for meditation purposes-while experiencing rich, educational, centuries-old contemporized traditions: story-telling and communicating through the Drum, and the preserving and passing on to New Generations refreshing, Ancestral wisdom and knowledge. $15.65 Part of Cherry Red's ongoing reissue of albums from the late British DJ John Peel's short-lived indie label Dandelion Records, Beau is undeniably a minor work that would likely not get much attention were it not for its connection to such a beloved figure. Although released in 1969, the skeletal arrangements -- just a 12-string acoustic guitar and vocals -- have more in common with the very first wave of post-Dylan singer/songwriters. Think David Blue, Tom Paxton, and Phil Ochs, not the later swell of rock and psych-influenced pretenders to the throne. Christopher John Trevor Midgley -- it's immediately obvious why he chose to change his name professionally -- was the first act signed to Dandelion; as the comprehensive liner notes point out, Peel's business partner, Clive Selwood, was also the European head of A&R for Elektra Records, and the stripped-down earnestness of these songs is entirely in keeping with Elektra's singer/songwriter aesthetic. However, it's also clear that Dandelion got Beau because Elektra wasn't interested in an act that was already a throwback by the standards of then-current Elektra acts like the Stooges and the Doors. With several decades' hindsight, however, the low-key and gentle charms of Beau are more obvious. Although the album is clearly overshadowed by the outstanding single "1917 Revolution," a piece of passionate folk-rock weirdness that bears fruitful comparison to Tom Rapp's Pearls Before Swine, even less unique tunes like "Pillar of Economy" and "A Nation's Pride" are thoughtful folk songs with better than average lyrics powered by Beau's truly inventive guitar playing. ~ Stewart Mason
