$19.98 When Jon Anderson rejoined Yes after DRAMA, he was inserting himself into an unusual situation. Keyboardist Geoff Downes and longtime guitarist Steve Howe had left to form Asia with prog rock vets John Wetton (King Crimson, Roxy Music etc.) and Carl Palmer (ELP). Chris Squire and Alan White brought original Yes keysman Tony Kaye back and recruited vibrant young Australian guitarist/vocalist/composer Trevor Rabin. The quartet had ...
| | Michael Buble Crazy Love CD (2009)
Lust Lust Lust
$15.05 Buoyed by the popularity of the hit contemporary pop ballad "Home," singer Michael Bublé's 2005 album, IT'S TIME, clearly positioned the vocalist as the preeminent neo-crooner of his generation. Easily the singer's most stylistically wide-ranging album so far, 2009's CRAZY LOVE is also one of his brightest, poppiest, and most fun. Bublé kicks things off with the theatrical, epic ballad "Cry Me a River" and proceeds to milk the tune with burnished breath, eking out the drama line by line. It's over the top for sure, but Bublé takes you to the edge of the cliff, prepares to jump, and then gives you a knowing wink that says, not quite yet -- there's more fun to be had. And what fun it is with Bublé swinging through "All of Me," and killin' Van Morrison's classic "Crazy Love" with a light and yearning touch. And just as "Home" worked to showcase Bublé's own writing abilities, here we get the sunshine pop of "Haven't Met You Yet" -- a skippy, jaunty little song that brings to mind a mix of the Carpenters and Chicago. ...

| | Atlas Sound Logos CD (2009)
Lust Lust Lust
$11.64 Bradford Cox was a virtual song machine during the time between Deerhunter's CRYPTOGRAMS and the Atlas Sound's LOGOS, churning out officially released material as well as plenty of songs only available on his blog. Over that span of time, he became a finer and more fluid songwriter, and his music emerged from the experimental fog of his earlier work just enough to give listeners tantalizing glimpses of almost ridiculously catchy songs. LOGOS keeps this push-pull between challenging and charming, yet Cox's second solo album still feels more experimental than Deerhunter, if only because he seems completely unfettered by any kind of rules or concerns about consistency. These songs barely sound like each other, yet they all sound like Cox. LOGOS comes into focus slowly with its first three songs. "The Light That Failed"'s hazy atmospheres ...
| | Pink Martini Splendor In The Grass CD (2009) Digipak
Lust Lust Lust
$13.14 Pink Martini follow the around-the-world-in-a-dozen-songs thrills of HEY EUGENE! with SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS, a mellower, simpler set of small pleasures. These are relative terms, however; the group's music is still well-traveled, with China Forbes singing in five languages (English, Spanish, Neapolitan, French, and Italian) instead of the six or so on EUGENE!. However, Pink Martini opt for a more unified sound here, one that draws on the more straightforward lounge-pop of their debut, SYMPATHIQUE, and the mellowness of '60s and '70s pop. SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS' first half is especially smooth, opening with the beautifully soft Neapolitan ballad "Ninna Nanna" and the title track, on which Forbes sings "I think we should take it slow" over swooping strings, brass, and ...

| | Best Of Big Mike And The Booty Papas CD (2003)
Lust Lust Lust
$15.19 Meet Big Mike & The Booty Papas! Big Mike, Hal, Cuzz have been playing music for an accumulative total of 100 years! That's a lot of gigs! They have been playing interactively for the past 10 years. 1996 was a new beginning for these fellows. After spending 30 years playing every kind of gig known to musicians, Big Mike & The Booty Papas were formed from many jamming Sunday nights at The Back Porch Lounge in Macon, GA. Many different players that include Ronnie Hammond (A.R.S.), Mike Causey (Stillwater), Phil Palma, Ken Wynn, Mike Copeland & Elbert Durham helped to make those nights special, along with lots of other musicians that dropped by. Ronnie Hammond played bass and Mike Copeland played lead regularly with the group, formerly known as "Big Mike & Friends". These hot sessions eventually led to the grouping of the Big Mike ,Cuzz, Chris Crider and Greg Stewart on Drums and Ed Smith on Sax. Next it was off to a recording session at Phoenix Sound (formerly Capricorn Studios Macon, GA). Skip Slaughter, engineer of Phoenix Sound, added his welcome expertise to the project and 4 cover tunes and 7 original songs were born of the session. 6 of the original tunes were penned by Big Mike, and one instrumental by Chris Crider (CC). Together they show the innovative, exciting and fresh new approach to a style of music that this group truly loves. The band's next project also came from the same line up but, adding Walt Scott on Keyboard, Mike Causey on guitar, David Ragsdale on Violin, Jimmy Hall sang "she caught the Kati" with Big Mike and "Harp" and a real 54 voice gospel group The Gospel Movement and the Atlanta Horns. This CD was also loaded with some real good originals and a really good cover of a Lynard Skynard tune , "Curtis Lowe" and they have just finished a new project with the current line up. The new project was recorded at "Wild Bean Studios" in Macon, Ga. with our old friend Michael "Goose ' Goodrich. They also are on world wide Television on the Food Network "Food Nation with Bobby Flay"Big Mike & The Booty Papas are: Michael "Big Mike" Ventimiglia (guitar, vocals), Hal Register (guitar, vocals), Glenn "Cuzz" Hutchison (bass guitar, vocals) and Jerome "J.T." ...
