Liane Carroll's third CD for Splash Point Records is an album of exquisite ballads, returning to the "stripped down" format of solo piano and voice. It is an album of intimate and personal songs - all of which have great meaning to her. The performances are heartfelt and truthful; she is wearing her heart on her sleeve here. Already being hailed as her most perfect album yet, the performances defy anyone to listen without being overwhelmed by the beauty, honesty and emotion of the music. Recorded "live" in the studio, it is Liane at her most powerful, giving her own intense treatment to a range of composers' tunes. Liane Carroll Slow Down Songs | 1. | Memphis In June |

$14.95 Many people think of smooth jazz as something that didn't start until the 1980s, but arguably, smooth jazz started around 1966-1968 with the overtly commercial, pop-drenched albums that guitarist Wes Montgomery recorded during the last few years of his life. Love it or hate it, Montgomery's more commercial output had ...

Slow Down songs
$13.15 Paul Howards’ style has been described as heartfelt, melodic, and seductive. Each of these elements is something on their own; together they're something else!!! And the classy, sincere delivery makes it just a little more; it makes it both very cool ... and very hot! In a genre where predictability too often takes precedence over innovation, Paul stands apart as a performer whose music makes a difference.Although you may not be aware of it, millions have heard the music of Paul Howards. The Saxophonist/composer/producer has played on more than 1,000 sessions for albums, films, TV and jingles.Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Howards' early sax life — he began playing in the school band at age 10 — involved being part of a highly decorated high school band ensemble which performed nationwide and in Europe (including the Montreux Jazz Festival). "Playing sax was a natural thing for me," he says. "I fell in love with it from the very beginning. I remember finally choosing it over the French horn when, during a winter concert in which I played both, I put down the horn and did a solo sax concerto in the middle. I felt so connected to the audience. It's just a better means of expression."He studied Music Education at Western Michigan University for two years before receiving a full scholarship to study studio music and jazz at the University of Miami. "I grew ...

Slow Down music CDs
$14.79 About This CDThis recording represents my return to the world of Jazz after a multi year hiatus. I had abandoned all virtually all jazz playing in recent years due to several factors: depression over the woeful state of the pianos available at most venues; a very busy period as a composer for TV and film, a burgeoning family and other factors too tiresome to enumerate here. I thought I wouldn't miss jazz too much as I had an alternative creative outlet through composing both film and classical music. It turned out that I was wrong. Being away from jazz became increasingly uncomfortable and I felt that a spring was being slowly wound up within me. This CD is the happy release of that spring. In returning to the studio, I was most fortunate to obtain the aid of some of the finest musicians in Jazz:Mike Smith- an inexplicably overlooked master of modern jazz drumming and an uncommonly sensitive musician. Mike brings vast experience and an uncannily keen ear to any rhythm section he plays with. Playing with Mike has been an ongoing inspiration to me for the many years he has been kind enough to show up at my gigs and I consider him one of my teachers.Drew Gress- I've also had the pleasure of playing with Drew for many years. He, Mike, Glenn Cashman and myself played as a quartet for several years in the 80's and 90's. Drew has a fantastic sound, rapport, wit and is immensely creative both as a player and composer. Internationally, Drew is already a force to be reckoned with and a figure to watch closely over the coming years. Warning: do not ask him to recite his "limericks".David Liebman. Mere superlatives do not do justice to the ...
