Trust In Jah
$19.59 RASTAMAN VIBRATION's burlap-esque jacket design couldn't be more appropriate packaging-this is a load of Natty knowledge delivered in simple, raw fashion. And there's a real beauty in the weave. This 1976 release finds Bob dropping ever more lyrics on human entanglements both local and global, his transcendent voice threading wisdom through it all.
"Positive Vibration" and "Roots, Rock, Reggae" are anthemic in character, inviting all listeners to quit their negativity and start a-dancin'. "Want More" is a promise of bad karma for back-biters everywhere, leadened fearfully by solemn bass lines and seamless production. Perhaps most compelling here is "War," a musical setting of a 1968 speech on global justice by the Emperor Haile Selassie I ...

His is an uncompromising millenarian vision more akin to the urgent roots style made famous by Burning Spear, Black Uhuru and Bob Marley than any of his deejay ...

| | Jason Elixir Ensemble Seed Where The Corners Meet CD (2007)
Trust In Jah
$13.15 With members of the Chicago Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony and Present Music together with some of the the very best jazz and rock musicians the midwest has to offer The Jason Seed Elixir Ensemble is a unique phenomenon. More accurately experienced than explained, it is a truly unique sound that penetrates all genres and all audiences. But to give you an idea, glowing press reviews have noted influences ranging from Frank Zappa to Charles Mingus, Phish to Bartok, Bach to Mr Bungle. Combining elements of popular music spanning the last Century, as well as traditional folk influences from around the world, composer Jason Seed has indeed created an elixir that will refocus our modern interaction with, and appreciation of, intelligent music. The April 2007 release of Where the Corners Meet has already met with an overwhelming response, reinforcing Seed's suspicion that American audiences are seriously under-estimated.summed up in a word:RockedixieofunkenjazzabilliclassicadelicaRenowned Classical musicians playing alongside some of the midwest's best Jazz musicians to create the strangest rock band you've ever heard."...his ensembles feature some of the area's finest musicians, including top players from the Milwaukee and Chicago Symphony Orchestras, all atracted to the quality of his compositions" - Milwaukee Magazine"The scope of Where the Corners Meet is wide but Seed's imagination is even broader...some of the music echoes New Orleans other tracks recall the tricky changes of progressive rock, a great lost King Crimson track here, an eastern European violin power thrust there." - The Milwaukee Shepherd Express"Jason Seed, reminiscent at times of John Scofield, ...

| | Jan Horvath Never Too Late CD (2007)
Trust In Jah
$15.19 This is Jan’s first solo album as singer/songwriter!!! It's called "Never Too Late" and it is an eclectic mix of musical styles and sentiments. Some of the best musicians in the business worked on it with her including her co-producer/guitarist Peter Calo, of Carly Simon fame! Jan is best known from her work on Broadway and in the Symphonic Orchestra world as a guest soloist . She has sung with over one hundred orchestras in the U.S. as well as major orchestras in Italy, Brazil, China, Israel, Canada, and even Bulgaria!!!! She appeared in five Broadway shows including the original companies of "The Phantom of the Opera" where she got to perform the roles of Christine and Carlotta; Bob Fosse's "Sweet Charity" (the first revival starring Debbie Allen); and "The ThreePenny Opera" starring the one and only Sting. Jan toured around the country playing a very old cat - Grizabella, (you know the one who sings "that song")- in Lord Lloyd Webber's "CATS". She is proud of her Off-Broadway work as well which includes working with Yoko Ono in her musical "New York Rock" (cast album on Capitol Records), and playing the role of Svetlana in the Tim Rice's Revised version of "Chess" where she got to sing one of the best songs ever written: "Someone Else's Story". Another Off-Broadway favorite was "Jacques Brel is..." at the old Equity Library Theater where she wowed audiences with her version of Brel's amazing song "Marieke". As a songwriter Jan had the incredible priviledge of premiering her song "Immigrant's Anthem" with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra in 2005, and most recently got to sing it again with The Rochester Philharmonic on a barge in the Erie Canal with about 14,000 people lining the shores! Quite a thrill!!! This year she also performed another original song called "Adolescent's Lament" with the Albuquerque and Wichita Symphonies in which she played- of all things -her TUBA!!! (Note her tuba can be heard on the final track of her CD as well!) Jan lives in New York City ...
