Lucifer's Children Vinyl LP (2005) (Import) Japan
Hitbound Selection-When the Dances Were Changing music CDs. Epic rockers Eternal present LUCIFER'S CHILDREN featuring four tracks including "Magickal Childe" and "Electric Funeral." After leaving their death/grind and death/doom tendencies behind them (along with abandoned band names, Lord of Putrefaction and Thy Grief Eternal), Dorset, England's newly revamped Eternal committed four songs of straight-up, '70s inspired doom to tape, with the intent of prefacing a full-length album. But, unfortunately, these songs wound up becoming Eternal's only surviving recordings, because the band quickly transformed into the world-renowned Electric Wizard. The signs of evolution were evident in the band's sound, and opening number "Magickal Childe" -- relatively brisk pace and all -- absolutely worshiped at the altar of Black Sabbath, with frontman Justin Oborn even pulling off a pretty good Ozzy vocal imitation. And, in conclusion, there's the original recording of the epic "Chrono-Naut" (also to be Wizard-ified at a later date), which brought this release to the 30-minute mark, and justified its belated release on vinyl by Rise Above in 2005. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia After changing their name from thy grief eternal, to the more simplistic Eternal, the band also changed their style. Ditching the more doom/death aspect of their previous output, they added alot more to their sound, mixing swirling psychedelia with 70's Black Sabbath/NWOBHM riffs. Eternal was ...
