Weathering The Storm

Digitally remastered by Suha Gur (Universal Music Group Studios).
Prior to Eric Clapton's pop- and MTV-driven mid-'80s work, he spent the '70s and early '80s playing languid, singer-songwriter soft rock evocative of J.J. Cale and Don Edwards. But Clapton always kept one foot in the blues of his youth. BLUES brings this material together in one place and throughout, Slowhand taps into an inner spirituality that does these blues standards well.
The first disc contains studio recordings that include tributes to many influences including Elmore James ("The Sky Is Crying") and Willie ...

| | Ted Zydeco Texas Zydeco CD (2007)
Weathering The Storm
$16.45 It was a true honor to record with the "Zydeco Dots" and be back in Houston Texas once more! Mike Vee and Tom Potter have been musical inspirations and great friends to me since we all first met each other in 1974. It was Mike who called me on the phone around 1982 and told me that I was "sitting around the house too much being domestic" and I need to "get that Accordion out, come over & start playing music!" Well, it never ended since then & I'll always be grateful to Mike and Tom for that. Really great friends are the ones who motivate you. Mike is one of the most creative, fun people I've ever known, and is the best Scrub Board Player I've ever seen weaving complex percussive techniques with rhythmic melody lines which syncopate perfectly with "The Dots" excellent Drummer Joseph Rossyion! Tom Potter is a true friend and an incredible Guitarist who has such a fine ear and feel for laying down the tastiest chords & riffs at the right time for any song! It was so satisfying to be able to perform and record with these two after not playing music together in 22 years! Bass Man Thurman Hurst is a laid back pleasant, congenial person. Regarding Zydeco however, he's an aggressive hard working player with a passionate delivery and a natural feel for the different landscapes of the music. I'm so glad that I had the privilege of working and playing with him. It was also an honor to meet and interact with Raymond Chevis, "The Dots Accordionist" I'm going to take a chance, but I say that "He is the nicest man in Texas!" Regarding his music, he is one of the best there is "Globally" when it comes to the "Piano Note Accordion" & the Zydeco. A special thanx goes out to Ray as well for lending Mr. Citizen's Button Accordion to me. On the Drums, Joseph Rossyion is not only a confident, happy, out-going man, but a driving force for "The Dots". His quick reflexive adjustments, strong back rhythms and rhythmical direction, give "The Dots" a solid Zydeco floor to stand on! It was an honor to be able to work and play with Joseph in the making of this CD It all started in Texas though with the "Zydeco Dots" Scrub board player.Yeah you right! Mike Vee's super entertaining qualities and zest for Zydeco got me thinkin' in the direction of starting my own Zydeco band. However.......My "Blues Influences" from Chicago, Cajun, Rock & Country influences from Texas and my "guitar style riffs" that I use on the Accordion provided me with a potent hybird that I call "Big Fun Louisiana Style Music!" I had to leave Houston in 1987 for Kentucky where I put this Gumbo of music together to form Zydeco Bon! Our music doesn't pretend to be "Straight Up Zydeco".....But it rocks! It's all "in-between & it's all bon/Zydeco Bon! My major influences have been......Don't laugh now....Elvis, Howlin Wolf, B.B. King, Fats Domino, Clifton Chenier, Buckwheat Zydeco, ZZ Top, Ted Nugent, Led Zeplin, Geno Delofose, Doug Kershaw, Jimmie C. Newman, Jo-El Sonnier, Wayne Toups, Lynn August, early Motown Artists and lately Raymond Chevis as well. I love music, but mostly I love mixing all of it that I play into a Zydeco style sound. Zydeco Bon! has been ...

Weathering The Storm
$11.49 P. Willie has been playing guitar for over 35 years. He has crossed paths with many famous musicians and songwriters, including trumpeter Rick Braun, Americana artist Ray Wylie Hubbard, and singer/songwriter, composer of the Dixie Chicks hit "Wide Open Spaces" Susan Gibson. Having been living in the San Antonio to Austin corridor for the past 7 years, P. Willie is exposed to a wide range of music, including country, Americana, rock, blues, hip-hop, metal, and Latin styles. It all enters into his playing in some way. This album features songs about Friends. The lead off track, My Friends introduces the album. Next comes The Best Man Blues, loosely inspired by a friend from Las Vegas, Bill Boan, a fine mechanic. Track 3 is His Sister Cried, dedicated to the memory of Lt. Col Eric Krueger, the late brother of singer/songwriter Kristy Krueger. King of the Blues is inspired by all those who enter the annual Guitar Center competition. When That Juice Gets Talkin' features a story about Katie, a young friend from a bar called The Red Baron. Live for Today reflects on P. Willie's roots, growing up in the rust belt of Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley. Friday Night Man is a friend's lament about paying for drinks for a girl he sees only once a week. Texas Blues Train is dedicated to Beth Piekarski, a friend of P. Willie who passed away this last year. Free Love Song is for P. Willie's loving wife, Sheree. Let My Neck Out of Your Rope examines the emotion of P. Willie's friend Jason, as he struggled with feelings about a divorce.
