Wispy synth chords ebb and flow as gentle, down-tempo breaks wander mysteriously through the mix. Fat analog tones disrupt the placid mood and bring a sinister edge. - Listen.comFounded in 1999, this expressive recording project combines elements of dark ambient, ethereal, and touches of atmospheric neo-classical to form a unique sound. Since founding the project, we have independently released two EP recordings and have arranged a variety of remixes for such artists as Attrition and Sero.Overdose. Seven years after the initial release, we now present our first full-length album on the Fractured Vision Media label. Prison Of Oneself
$11.79 One of the most highly anticipated indie-rock releases of 2009, VECKATIMEST finds Grizzly Bear continuing its nearly exponential leaps in creativity and scope from album to album. While the Brooklyn act's second full-length outing, YELLOW HOUSE, garnered considerable acclaim and solidified ...
| | Madonna Ray Of Light CD (1998)
Prison Of Oneself
$6.09 RAY OF LIGHT won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Pop Album and for Best Recording Package, and was nominated for Album Of The Year. "Ray Of Light" won the 1999 Grammy for Best Dance Recording and Best Short Form Music Video, and was nominated for Record Of The Year.
Relentlessly contemporary, RAY OF LIGHT pairs Madonna with producer William Orbit, an electronics wizard who has worked with major R&B acts and even such modern rockers as Blur and Depeche Mode. Reportedly, Madonna tried to snare Liam Howlett of high-strung techno-rockers the Prodigy into the project--Howlett claims to have turned her down. But the more dextrous, less in-your-face Orbit was probably a better choice anyway. He provides a dizzying array of soundscapes, incorporating everything from psychedelic-rock guitar to dub-reggae echo and cold, cutting techno beats for what critics are calling Madonna's most committed performance in years.
From the slow chill of the album's first single, "Frozen," to the disco-like title track, RAY OF LIGHT finds Madonna embracing the club beats that are her roots while still teetering on the edge of dance-club vogue. It also finds the singer, who has become a mother since her last studio album, in a long-untapped spiritual ...
| | Savage Garden Affirmation CD (1999)
Prison Of Oneself
$8.29 Principally recorded at Wallyworld Studios, Marin County, California from April-July 1999 and Sony Music Studios, New York, New York.
The vocals/keyboards duo Savage Garden (Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones) makes lush, carefully crafted pop that combines unerring melodic sensibilities with a thoughtful, spiritually inclined lyrical approach. A perfect example of Savage Garden's cerebral/visceral dual attack is this album's title track. Over a bouncy, anthemic bed of synthesizers and programmed rhythms, singer Hayes recounts all the things in which he believes (many of which are at odds with media-enforced stereotypes).
No duo is an island, and Jones' considerable keyboard/programming chops are supported by such storied studio vets as bassist Nathan East and guitarist Dean Parks, who contribute ornate touches to Savage Garden's uplifting, sunny pop sound. AFFIRMATION isn't all sweetness and light, though, ...

Prison Of Oneself
$15.39 Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers: Art Blakey (drums); Wayne Shorter (tenor saxophone); Freddie Hubbard (trumpet); Curtis Fuller (trombone); Cedar Walton (piano); Reggie Workman (bass).
Digitally remastered using 20-bit K2 Super Coding System technology.
This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
Yet another fabulous session by Art Blakey and his Jazz Messengers from the early '60s. CARAVAN was the Messengers' debut for Riverside during a time when they primarily recorded sessions for Alfred Lion's Blue Note label. This is the sextet version of the group, with Freddie Hubbard, Curtis Fuller, and Wayne Shorter forming one of the best front lines of all time. As usual, the band is the epitome of classic hard bop, with tight ensemble work, highly advanced arrangements, and powerful solos by all.
The group's impressive arrangement of Duke Ellington's "Caravan" opens the set with signature African drum grooves and solos from the leader. Music director Shorter contributes two original selections for the set; his swinging waltz "Sweet 'N' Sour" is ...
