| | George Strait Troubadour CD George Strait Discography of CDs
(2 Customer Reviews)
The last country New Traditionalist standing, the tireless George Strait was still churning out solid, roots-conscious fare like TROUBADOUR on a regular basis after more than a quarter-century on the job. The title track casts a wistful look ... Full Descriptionback while declaring the singer's intention to keep forging ahead. Aided by Patty Loveless, Strait sings the praises of Johnny and June on the moving elegy "House of Cash," while "Make Her Fall In Love With Me Song" is the kind of tune that could have been pumping out of a honky-tonk jukebox when Strait was still the new kid on the block. His lifelong love affair with Western Swing gets an airing here on the sprightly Dean Dillon duet "West Texas Town." At an age when some singers might think about slowing down, Strait sounds like he's just picking up speed on TROUBADOUR.Rolling Stone (p.63) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "TROUBADOUR is up to the usual standards, maybe better. There's witty, swaggering honky-tonk and the requisite hot-fiddle swing number." Paste (magazine) (p.69) - "[W]ith TROUBADOUR, he throws in a couple of delectable curveballs -- like the Caribbean twinkle of 'River of Love' and the rock edge of 'House of Cash'..." | | Garth Brooks Ultimate Hits CDs (2007) With DVD
Troubadour CD music
$12.19 For a period in the early 1990s, Garth Brooks was not only the biggest star in country music, he was one of the biggest stars in music, period. An unassuming Oklahoman who fused the blue-collar ethic of new traditionalist country with an unapologetic pop side that drew on his love of 1970s rockers like Kiss and Billy Joel, Garth Brooks fundamentally changed the sound of mainstream country music in much the same way that Hank Williams had in the 1940s and Patsy Cline ...
| | Alan Jackson Good Time CD (2008)
Troubadour music CDs
$15.59 On his first traditional country album since 2004's WHAT I DO, Alan Jackson steps outside the comfortable routine he's created for himself in favor of creating a more personal and introspective work. The first album on which Jackson has written all of the songs all by himself, GOOD TIME is Jackson's most autobiographical album by some distance. "Small Town Southern Man" is a touching farewell to his late father, while "I Wish I Could Back Up" and "Never Loved Before" (a duet with country superstar Martina McBride) are intimate love songs more revealing than most country radio fare. GOOD TIME is true ...

| | Brad Paisley Play CD (2008)
Troubadour album
$14.89 In an unusual move for an established country singer, Brad Paisley's PLAY is a primarily instrumental album that puts its focus entirely on Paisley's underrated guitar work. Far from being a traditional country album, or even a contemporary country-pop album, PLAY works in a wide variety of genres, including Les Paul-style jazz, ripping surf rock, old-fashioned electric Chicago blues, and metal-tinged rock & roll.
Paisley also assembles quite a list of guest stars: a re-recording of an early hit features a guest appearance by the actor Andy Griffith, while the Bakersfield country rocker "Come On In" features the late Buck Owens and a bluesy take on "Let the Good Times Roll" welcomes B.B. King. Two vocal tracks, "Start A Band" and "More Than Just This Song," feature Keith Urban and Steve Warriner, respectively, while the epic "Cluster Pluck" is a tongue-in-cheek ...
| | Toby Keith That Don't Make Me A Bad Guy CD (2008)
Troubadour CD music
$11.49 Twelve studio albums into his career, Toby Keith has settled into the sort of comfortable groove that generally allows a country singer to maintain a career for several decades. After spending the first years of the 21st century embroiled in non-musical sideshows like an ongoing feud with Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks and mild controversies about his political beliefs, THAT DON'T MAKE ME A BAD GUY, like its predecessor, BIG DOG DADDY, leaves social commentary behind for a genial, mature brand of rock-influenced country. The first single, ...
| | Monica Joy If Everything Is Lost CD (2005)
Troubadour music CDs
$14.79 Monica Joy has been making music for as long as she can remember - first on the piano, then with acoustic guitar, and more recently on African drums. And although she has been writing songs since her teen years, most of her music remained unheard until now. With the release of her first album If Everything is Lost, the spring of 2005 marks a new chapter for Monica's music. "I've always felt fortunate to have music in my life as an outlet, a way of journaling and worshipping and coping. I haven't always felt the need for my music to be heard by anyone other than my 'audience of One', but over the last couple of years, the desire to share it has begun to burn in me. I'm encouraged that God seems to be taking this music that has been like "therapy" in my life and is using it in the lives of others." Monica is thrilled to have had ten extremely talented musicians from around the province come together to bring 13 of her original works to life, in the hope that these songs would bring others a blend of "ear candy", praise, encouragement and even healing.Sometimes described as "folk pop", Monica Joy's music is an earthy, mellow blend of piano, guitars, violin, cello and African percussion. In her smooth, honest vocals, it is easy to hear her heart for those who feel worn or crushed by life's hardships, and her passion ...
