(3 Customer Reviews)
With a style that splits the difference between Scandinavian death metal ferocity and classic British power metal, Finland's Children of Bodom draw strength from every color in the metal spectrum. BLOODDRUNK can be as vicious and terrifying as the title would imply, but it can also be as exhilarating and anthemic as Iron Maiden. Punctuating their dizzying guitar leads with splashes of melodic synth tones, the Children add yet another layer to BLOODDRUNK'S overall sonic palate, lending a depth too often absent in this kind of album. "Lobodomy" has frantically paced riffs spilling out until they hit a pool of cool, eerie keys that tempers the madness, and "Done With Everything, Die With Nothing" features a stately, Maiden-esque knot of guitar that resolves itself into a breakaway run. BLOODDRUNK'S title makes it sound like all-out darkness, but these guys are having too much fun playing with the blood for that.
Children of Bodom: Alexi Laiho (vocals, guitar); Roope Latvala (guitars); Janne Wirman (keyboards); Henkka Seppala (bass guitar); Jaska Raatikainen (drums).
Alternative Press (p.138) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "Laiho's shredded vocals and killer riffs still carry the day -- and helps slice a few arteries along the way." Children Of Bodom Blooddrunk Songs Blooddrunk Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) A nice pick me up after AYDY The whole album, minus that mistake from heaven, is up-tempo, crunchy, filled with perfect mixing, insane guitar/keyboard solos, and great rhythm sections. Definitley a thrash metal theme to it, and the new tones/ re-recording of Tie My Roope really shows: it sounds much better now!
Anyways, hell yeah, it's COB. Pretty sweet. Definitley pick this album up, it's filled with good quality bodom. Submitted by Jay (SomewhereinAmerica, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

| | Nine Inch Nails Further Down The Spiral CD (1995) (Import) Extended Play; Germany
Blooddrunk music CDs
$13.59 European edition with four different tracks from the U.S. version: "Self Destruction Part Three," "Heresy" (version), "Hurt" (live), and "Ruiner" (version).
It has become clear that Nine Inch Nails' one-man fuse Trent Reznor has been given free reign to construct his releases in whatever ways he sees fit. And since he has continually railed against pop's constrictive borders, it should come as no surprise that FURTHER DOWN THE SPIRAL rebels against the standard remix album formula. Instead, Reznor allows like-minded deconstructionists to go wild with a blank canvas, and some dark hues provided by THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL. So rather than having dance mixes from the likes of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, this 64-minute EP (!) features the technology-driven sonic landscapes of Aphex Twin, and the thorny abstractions of Foetus' J.G. Thirlwell.
Few of these song titles match their DOWNWARD SPIRAL counterparts, choosing--like the mixes themselves--to only hint at the originals. "Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now)" charges with a new-found frenzy to the strains of Dave Navarro's guitar, only to veer off into a decidedly house music-like break. In the hands of the members of Coil, "The Downward Spiral (The Bottom)" becomes an industrial collage, incorporating bleak dins, dark ambient figures, and a grey-noise version of the "Closer" hook. Only "Hurt (Quiet)," the one track redone by a solo Reznor, resembles its former self. Soft but emotionally taxing, it becomes the sleek and brooding post-modern ballad it always threatened to. And like the rest of FURTHER DOWN THE SPIRAL, it's a gateway into Reznor's psyche--a place where the disenfranchised not only get their say, but get to remix it as well.
Import pressing of this 1995 EP that features three bonus tracks over the U.S. edition: 'Self Destruction' (Part Three,) 'Heresy' (Version) and 'Ruiner' (Version). ...
| | Smerphasia You've Been Warned CD (2006)
Blooddrunk songs
$11.39 S M E R P H A S I A"Princess Of Hip Hop" Asia Lynn Jackson p/k/a SmerphAsia was born in Orange County, California on August 15, 1991. At the tender age of 6, young Smerphette showed the innate ability of rhythmic lyrical expression, whether it was mimicking classic hip hop records, or creating new wordplay of her own, her pinpoint delivery, coupled with her charismatic style, was evident from the very beginning. Her introduction to the Hip Hop industry came as a member of a local R&B/Hip-Hop quartet out of Orange County called "Seven 1 Fo" (phonetically named after the Orange County area code). The four-girl group (3 singers) and one rapper (Smerphette), garnered local attention but had short-lived chemistry as a unit. As the group disbanded, one thing was clear from all who saw the group perform: the pint size female MC who rhymed eight bars on almost every song was a "star in the making." In 2003, Smerphette embarked on the journey as a solo artist and it was clear she was more than ready. She immediately began working on songs with famed Death Row producer Darren Vegas, who after seeing her perform at a local talent show, found himself utterly impressed with Smerphette's lyrical skills and stage presence. As a result of that encounter, he contributed six incredible songs on her debut album. To quote Vegas, "her potential is unlimited." Darren should know, after all, he has produced multi-platinum hits for Tupac, Bone Thugs and Harmony, Tha Dogg Pound and several other notable artists. Due to her exceptional work ethic, SmerphAsia has earned a modest fan base through the live show format. She has performed several shows throughout the Orange County area, including the OC's famed "The Block of Orange". In addition, "The Princess of Hip Hop" has performed for, and been mentored ...
| | Los Lobos Acoustic En Vivo CD (2005)
Blooddrunk album
$13.69 While maintaining their tenure with Mammoth Records for frontline, English-language, studio recordings, Los Lobos launch their own independent record label with the release of Acoustic en Vivo. The band that began its career with the self-released 1978 album, Just Another Band from East L.A., repeats that formula here and also follows up its Grammy Award-winning 1988 LP of Mexican folk music, La Pistola y el Corazon on a disc that is well described by its title: the performances are acoustic and live, and the language is Spanish, for the most part. Exceptions include two songs from Kiko, "Two Janes" and "Saint Behind the Glass," plus the previously unheard "Teresa," all sung in English. Other selections derive from other earlier albums, such as "El Cuchipe" and "Guantanamera," which appeared on Just Another Band from East L.A.; "La Guacamaya" and the title song from La Pistola y el Corazon; "Maricela" from Colossal Head; and "Volver, Volver," which appeared on the compilation album Just Another Band from East L.A.: A Collection. There are also several other newly recorded ...

$39.99 | | Diablo's Dust Somewhere Between The Beginning & The End CD (2008)
Blooddrunk CD music
$10.15 Diablo's Dust is the "damned spicy" Indie Rock duo made up of Thom and Sarah Kilts. Their latest lo-fi album "Somewhere Between the Beginning and the End," comes straight out of their garage studio and is their follow up to "Living In Nowhere." This newest album deals with themes of miscommunication, repression, and spiritual longing. The first track, the namesake of the album, asks questions of existence, and the answer is given as a koan or puzzle. The second track, "The Drought Song," tells a story of not having your cries for help heard. On "Male Translata," (literally 'bad translation') again the theme of longing and being misunderstood is explored. "The Good Book," has fun with the notion of the repression of religion and old values on youth -- it challenging those notions with outward defiance -- as jumping on a 'fast train to hell.' "Dawn," explores the opportunity for spiritual awakening, but when the groove fizzles out we are greeted with a sonic punk like anthem. "Dirty Words," speaks again of miscommunication. In the "Lying Lion," the courage to defy and challenge the status quo is lifted up. In "Anybody Listening," a familiar tale is told of people forced to migrate, asking if their cries are being heard. On the "Repressed Man Cometh," the actual mind state of severe repression and its possible ...

Blooddrunk album
$8.69 Born to a classically trained opera singer, Virginia native Brinn Black has been immersed in music since birth. Raised in the small town of Chester Virginia, Brinn grew up singing in the church, and in her high school choir. All she ever wanted to do was make music so when it came time to choose a college, the obvious choice was simple: Music City's Nashville, Tennessee. Brinn was influenced by artists such as Reba McEntire and Martina McBride, but Brinn wanted to find her own sound in the music world. She decided to major in songwriting and didn't waste any time getting down to business; writing with such writers as ...

| | Barbara Lynn Jamie Singles Collection CDs (2008)
Blooddrunk music CDs
$21.29 Don't be deterred by the cheap cover art, just-the-facts title, and 32 short selections spread over two discs when one could have sufficed. This is a terrific compilation of music from one of soul music's many under-the-radar names. Although Barbara Lynn was born and raised in Texas, she personified the lazy beats, greasy horns, and chiming piano that characterized early-'60s New Orleans R&B. These 15 singles, sequenced chronologically (with two unreleased rarities), capture the crack studio band (including a young, pre-Dr. John, Mac Rebennack) led by producer Huey P. Meaux. Only a few, such as the classic "You'll Lose a Good Thing" and "Oh Baby (We Got a Good Thing Goin')" troubled the charts but, like many similar collections, the songs are uniformly well played and sung with plenty of obscure gems scattered throughout. Although only in her early twenties when cutting these sides, Lynn's husky voice, somewhat like that of her peer Irma Thomas, shows a confidence belying her young age. She's equally at home with midtempo dance fare like the Motown-styled "I've Taken All I'm Gonna Take" and with the bluesy ballads that mimic the style of her biggest hit and only crossover success, "You'll Lose a Good Thing," although some stabs at county don't really connect. A few tracks, such as 1965's "All I Need is Your Love" are marred by sappy background singers popular at the time, and the previously unavailable "Silly of Me" is nearly derailed by crowd sounds so obviously laid over the studio recordings, they sound literally phoned in. Why they weren't wiped out for this compilation, especially since the song hasn't been released prior to this, isn't clear. But generally, this is classy New Orleans soul performed with the blues-influenced, swampy vibe the city is known for. Lynn played guitar, left-handed no less, yet the liner notes don't specify which cuts she can be heard on. She was also one of the few female singers of her time to write her own material, and some of this set's finest selections such as "(Don't Pretend) Just Lay It on the Line" are Lynn originals. Despite the cheesy layout, Bill Dahl's five pages of liners are typically informative, cohesive, and complete. Additionally, the music seems remastered, although there is no indication of ...
