(7 Customer Reviews)
With a style that splits the difference between Scandinavian death metal ferocity and classic British power metal, Finland's Children of Bodom draw strength from every color in the metal spectrum. BLOODDRUNK can be as vicious and terrifying as the title would imply, but it can also be as exhilarating and anthemic as Iron Maiden. Punctuating their dizzying guitar leads with splashes of melodic synth tones, the Children add yet another layer to BLOODDRUNK'S overall sonic palate, lending a depth too often absent in this kind of album. "Lobodomy" has frantically paced riffs spilling out until they hit a pool of cool, eerie keys that tempers the madness, and "Done With Everything, Die With Nothing" features a stately, Maiden-esque knot of guitar that resolves itself into a breakaway run. BLOODDRUNK'S title makes it sound like all-out darkness, but these guys are having too much fun playing with the blood for that.
Children Of Bodom: Alexi Laiho (vocals, guitar); Roope Latvala (guitar); Janne Warman (keyboards); Henkka T. Blacksmith (bass guitar); Jaska W. Raatikainen (drums).
Recording information: Finnvox Studios, Finland; Petrax Studios, Finland (2007).
Alternative Press (p.138) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "Laiho's shredded vocals and killer riffs still carry the day -- and helps slice a few arteries along the way." Children Of Bodom Blooddrunk Songs Blooddrunk Music Review Average Rating: (2.6 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews highly underated This is one of the best metal albums to have come out in awhile!!! Not sure why it's getting low stars. Guitar work is insane, unbelievable drumming!! songs are complex & technically clean. About 2 songs I didn't like and that's it. Awesome album!!!! See them live if you get a chance, will not be dissapointed!! Submitted by Dave (Minneapolis, MN, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Some awesome songs but not thier best! This album sound is more noisy and fat sound than the previous one that is thier best album ever in my opinion. The complex Tie My Rope and melodious Banned From Heavy make me rise my rate to 4 stars. Great job guys! Submitted by Mathieu (Montreal, QC, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Its actually quite good... Bodoms best album in years, solid melodies and solos, heavier and less mainstream than previous albums. Well worth a listen. You ve got these guys giving them one & two stars...cmon!..do you really think they are giving you an objective review? Submitted by Rickson (Sydney AUST) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Bodom, more like boredom Children of Bodom for a long time reigned as the best melodeth band, hailing from Finland. These days, they're so caught up in their image, rather than their musicianship, its a real shame! I can understand bands who want to go more mainstream to appeal to a wider audience but that doesn't mean your music has to blow! Well, I'm only saying that because it honestly sums up what I think about them. In Flames too!! Kalmah is one of the last remaining actual good melodeth bands still out there, along with Dimension Zero, Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum, Wintersun (more good mixture of melo and viking) and many more! Well you knew it had to happen eventually It never fails, no matter how awesome a band is, they eventually run out of ideas and go to crap. In the past, Alexi managed to change the bands sound with each album, while maintaining his excellent songwriting ability, instrumental virtuosity, and unique style. None of that is found on Blooddrunk. Save for "Tie My Rope" it actually sounds decent enough to be a Hate Crew Deathroll B-side. 1 star for 1 song. | | Testament Formation Of Damnation CD (2008)
Blooddrunk
$13.09 Nine long years since their last studio album of new material (1999's THE GATHERING), Testament returned with a brutally melodic set fittingly titled THE FORMATION OF DAMNATION. Vocalist Chuck Billy's winning battle with cancer inspired most of the group's original lineup to reconvene, with the exception of the ever-changing drum throne occupied here by former Forbidden/Slayer member Paul Bostaph. Lyrically, the Bay Area thrash legends are well-known for tackling social and political fare. For DAMNATION, principal co-writers Billy and guitarist Eric Peterson deliver commentaries on 9/11 ("The Evil Has Landed"), government corruption ("The Formation Of Damnation"), ...

The modern barbarians of Amon Amarth are dedicated to mining their native Sweden's Viking past for tales of battle glory and eternal feasting that they can build into their colossally melodic death metal. Their seventh album, TWILIGHT OF THE THUNDER GOD, makes plain its mission from the album cover, featuring the Mighty Thor wielding ...

$9.59 Andy has been playing in various bands for around 20 years, in venues ranging from the smallest café bars to major fairs, Back in the early 90's Andy gave music a rest to study for his career, but missing it so much jumped back in playing with a few local bands doing the pub rounds, in the south of England. Blooddrunk
$14.19 The experimental "punk opera" project includes 13 post-punk versions of John Lennon political and rare songs, 6 reprises of politically intense interviews with John Lennon. The Oz stresses that this is not your ordinary cover album."The main idea for the album is to show a life of a man through the songs, words and life of John," says Igor Salnikov of The Oz. "The sound is made 'a little' more aggressive than John used to do, but still the songs have the same melodic beauty and power. The goal was to understand all sorts of 'revolutions' that John Lennon experienced during his life, just as a regular human being and to put them into the realities of the present world. We try to show a little different understanding of John Lennon and really hope that people will see what we mean."About The Oz:The OZ was formed in the summer of 2005 in St. Petersburg, Russia, when musicians from several unrelated bands started working together on a project of punk and post-punk covers of political and obscure John ...
