Chick Corea's Return To Forever was one of the seminal fusion bands of the 1970s. A veteran of Miles Davis's band as well as several Latin and hard bop outfits, Corea brought all these elements to the new band, along with a sweet, optimistic lyricism. This set covers the years 1973-76 when RTF featured Corea on various keyboards, the rippling torrid bass of Stanley Clarke, the big-beat funkiness of drummer Lenny White, and a few different guitarists, of whom THE ANTHOLOGY features the dense textures of Bill Connor as well as the flamenco-inspired Al Di Meola. Whether playing a concise five-minute tune or a 15-minute suite, this combo achieved a rare balance of sophistication and immediacy, deep grooves and engrossing, outer/inner-space improvisation. $30.49 After issuing three consecutive studio double LPs, Chicago topped themselves with this four-album live box set. As the title suggests, At Carnegie Hall, Vols. 1-4 (Chicago IV) (1971) finds the band at the venerable New York City venue during a five-night stand (April 5-April 10) in the spring of 1971. The septet -- which includes the respective talents of Terry Kath (lead guitar/vocals), Robert Lamm (keyboards/vocals), Peter Cetera (bass/vocals), Danny Seraphine (drums), Lee Loughnane (trumpet/vocals), James Pankow (trombone), and Walter Parazaider (woodwinds/vocals) -- were at their unquestionable peak of initial popularity. Their previous three double LPs continued ...

$12.69 "Tim Kelly writes and performs songs with outstanding lyrics that reflect the varied experiences of his life, accompanied by his driving guitar style. Tim's songs range from odes to his Irish ancestors to ballads about subjects as varied as TV programs, life in small-town America, and ranting pirates." - Papa Joe KretschmerMy cd, Flower Girl, is a tribute to my niece, Sarah, who was the flower girl at my wedding when she was 8 years old. The title song was written for Sarah's wedding and is a heartfelt reflection of the deep love I feel for her and the bittersweet memories of childhood lost. My whole family cried when I played it at her reception. "Rock Star" is a rollicking pipedream of fame and fortune for those of us who are legends in our own minds. Guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and get your toes tapping at the same time. I wrote this with Jan O'Donnell and played this one at my wedding."The Outdoor Type" was written by Tom Morgan. It is a forlorn ballad that chronicles the gradual demise of a lovesick ne'er do well as he pursues the girl of his dreams but just cannot overcome his true nature. A hapless Romeo beneath the wrong balcony. We is who we is, I reckon."Hokey Pokey Day". This one literally came to me in a dream. It's about live-and-let-live and why-can't-we-all-just-get-along. The last verse tells the story of how the song was born in a dream and poses eternal questions such as "Where do dreams come from? Where do they go?", "How can we capture our muse?", and "How far is Ashtabula?""Rockin' Down the Convent House" is a fun one. I survived Catholic schools as a child and always wondered what really went on after hours within the hallowed walls of the old convent house behind the church. This song presents one theory on the subject. Hey, they're human too!! Aren't they?"The Tribe Has Spoken". Speaking of survivors, this one was written after the first season of the TV show, "Survivor". The song uses the TV show as a commentary on the human condition. This is a fun one to sing because I get to shout and vent some angst."Annie's Lover" is a phenomenal song by a phenomenal songwriter, Dave Carter, who passed away a few years ago at age 49. He will be missed but his songs will live on forever. I think of this as a perfect song. If you haven't discovered him yet, check him out today. His legacy is being carried on in his absence by his musical partner, Tracy Grammer, an inspired performer who seems to channel the soul and spirit of Dave Carter. We are fortunate to have her."Yes Dear" was written by my good friend, Papa Joe Kretschmer. "Yes Dear" is an instant classic. It is a cautionary tale which offers sage advice to the groom as he approaches the altar. As a matter of fact, Papa Joe wrote it for his daughter and son-in-law-to-be and sang it as part of the wedding ceremony. ...
