UFO had finally fulfilled their potential with 1977's exceptional hard rock tour de force, LIGHTS OUT, and released another prime slice of heavy metal just one year later, OBSESSION. While most '70s Euro-metal bands such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, etc., dealt largely with doom and gloom, UFO proved to have more in common with such US melodic hard rockers as Van Halen.
OBSESSION proved to be UFO's most successful studio album ever, on the strength of such hard rocking highlights as "Only You Can Rock Me" and "Ain't No Baby." Even though guitarist Michael Schenker again pushes the songs to the limit here with his superb playing, OBSESSION would prove to be his final studio album with UFO. After just one more release, the classic live set STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT, Schenker left to briefly rejoin the Scorpions, before launching the Michael Schenker Group.
2008 digitally remastered and expanded edition of the British Hard Rock group's 1978 album featuring three previously unreleased live bonus tracks: 'Hot 'N' Ready', 'Pack It Up And Go' and 'Ain't No Baby'. Obsession was UFO's last studio album recorded with guitarist Michael Schenker. 14 tracks featuring 'Only You Can Rock Me' and 'Hot 'N' Ready'. EMI.

Best UFO album Mogg's vocals with Schenker's guitar work on this album are exceptional; a well engineered album. I was introduced to this album by a friend in 1979 shortly after it came out. I listened to the album for years, then packed it away (still have the vinyl). Purchasing the CD has renewed the memories associated with listening to the songs on this album. Classic UFO Album sounds even better now!!! I bought this album on vinyl way back in the late 70's when it first came out and I was blown away by the great songs and the awsome tone of Michael Schenker's guitar. The eventual CD re-release several years later was great but little did I realize that some of the luster and spark was missing from the original sound. Fast forward to 1999 and the release of the re-mastered version of OBSESSION. WOW!!!!! From the opening chords of Only You Can Rock Me to the lush background of Born To Lose, this album sounds like it has been given a new life.Every instrument and vocal is crystal clear. This re-master is a must for every UFO fan and for anyone that loves classic hard rock.Don't hesitate any longer."Pack It Up(and go)" get this CD.
