Purchase Para Mi Gente CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Rob Thomas Cradlesong CD (2009)
Para Mi Gente album
$14.54 Listening to cradlesong, the second album from Matchbox Twenty singer/songwriter Rob Thomas, it's hard not to think of him as a man out of time, making big music for a world of miniature niches. Thomas makes music as if it was the turn of the millennium, when there were cross-demographic radio formats and stores to goose sales to diamond status, traits that still serve him well when he's constructing sonic skyscrapers even if the results don't necessarily feel at home in the modern skyline. With its urgent hooks and surging sincerity, cradlesong is recognizably Thomas's work, right down to its lower-case ...

Para Mi Gente CD music
$28.29 PIRATES is also available with the album RICKIE LEE JONES on one cassette.
This is a Super Audio CD playable only on Super Audio CD players.
Rickie Lee Jones's second album, PIRATES, continues where her self-titled debut left off. With a record built upon storytelling, Jones resumes her role of poet laureate to the disenchanted and disconsolate. A strongly dynamic outing, the emotion of each song resonates in the detailed arrangements and freewheeling improvisations, the latter best epitomized by the funky party song, "Woody and Dutch on the Slow Train to ...
| | Mike Bloomfield Super Session CD (1968) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Para Mi Gente music CDs
$7.59 A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's Shuffle," "You Don't Love Me"), to heady jams ("His Holy Modal Majesty"), to big-band jazz ("Harvey's Tune").
All the tunes make effective templates for the kind off-the-cuff music-making that in less capable hands might have resulted in simple noodling. In fact, although Bloomfield and Stills don't play together on any of the cuts (Bloomfield played on one side of the original LP, Stills on the other), all three principals get off lots of good licks and producer Kooper has some interesting tricks up his sleeve, as in the over-the-top phasing he lavishes on "You Don't Love Me." The only real disappointment here is that Stills, a far better singer than Kooper, never opens his mouth.
Those familiar with the Live Adventures album these two recorded at the Fillmore West know how brilliant they could be on stage, and here's another gem, recorded at the Fillmore ...
| | Tift Merritt Buckingham Solo CD (2009) Digipak
Para Mi Gente songs
$11.98 With no accompaniment other than her own acoustic guitar and piano, and BUCKINGHAM SOLO could scarcely be more spare, but Tift Merritt's clear, resonant voice, delicate but never fragile, soars gracefully though these 12 songs with nothing to hold them back. Though Merritt is not given to showboating, her style is obviously carefully considered, with the subtle gospel flourishes of "Morning Is My Destination," the easygoing blues turns of "Still Pretending," and the cleaner, folkie accents of "Stray Paper" revealing the variety of textures she can bring to her music. Half of the songs on and BUCKINGHAM ...
| | Tool Lateralus CD (2000)
Para Mi Gente album
$15.45 "Schism" won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
Approaching Tool's LATERALUS with a casual ear would be a careless endeavor, to say the least. The sheer magnitude of the musical and emotional textures is as heady as it is primal. Standing out as one of the defining ...

| | Claude Hopper Four In The Morning CD (2001)
Para Mi Gente album
$18.99 CLAUDE HOPPER's debut CD "Four in the Morning" (released in 2001) is a roots rockin' sonic adventure. Filled with the intertwined sounds of rich acoustic and lush overdriven electric instruments, and the rough hewn vocal delivery of singer/songwriter David Cowan, the record oozes with vibe. The songs on the record have been described as "Big slices of Americana Pie."Santa Barbara, California-based Claude Hopper features producer David Cowan as the principal songwriter, guitarist and vocalist. The Claude Hopper line-up also features John McInnes on the bass guitar, Andy Webb on lead guitar, Michael Rivers on the drum kit, and Chris Ulep on keyboards. Shows often feature guest appearances by some of the crew who played on the record including Alastair Greene on lead and slide guitar, and Chris Cairns on banjo. Claude Hopper flows with the sounds of alternafolk-truckrockin'-countrifried-bluesy music. The CD was reviewed as follows:Santa Barbara IndependentDecember 13, 2001Arts & EntertainmentMade to be Played in Santa Barbara - Our Roundup of CD's from 2001by Walt RegoClaude Hopper, Four in the Morning Claude Hopper, alias guitarist-singer-songwriter-graphic artist Dave Cowan, put out a fine CD this year, which lives up to its title and its cover artwork. Four in the Morning sports a fancy cover design, with wood grain, a cowboy Van Gogh cover painting of a guitar in a candlelit room, and a loving, almost genuflecting photo of a tube microphone pre-amp on the back. The woodsy, rocking references continue in the music, starting with the tune "Whisky," with Cowan singing like a cowhide serenader swathed in blankets of warm, dirty guitars. Things get a little more than country on ...
