Born in Washington, DC, Crystal began her passion for music at the age of eight under the direction of Shirley Ables. Quickly deemed a young prodigy, she attended the Shirley Ables Music Ministry and began to receive instruction in piano and voice. Shirley Ables Music Ministry performed every year at the Shirley Caesar Crusade. Her professional career began at the age of 15 by winning 3rd place in the NAACP Act-So Award.
