The road to Hell, as we all know, is paved with good intentions, and it seems that the Youngers have taken a long drive down that very same path. Heritage CD music The group's second album, Heritage, is an unusually earnest set of roots rock and alt country, filled with tales of bad luck and lives on the line, and the music has been given the endorsement of John Carter Cash, son of the Man in Black himself, who produced the sessions, as well musicians who've backed up Del McCoury and Waylon Jennings ...See Full Description
Heritage music CDs. This two-CD set collects the 50 incredible tracks from Johnny Cash's tenure at Sun Studios. The set includes such Cash classics as "Cry Cry Cry," "So Doggone Lonesome," and "Folsom Prison Blues," among others.
Johnny Cash was never a garden-variety country singer, plowing a path through what later came to be known as Americana with his seemingly effortless mix of folk, country, rockabilly, pop and gospel, all of which came out sounding exactly like Johnny Cash. Thankfully, this two-fer rendering of their first two albums is an exception to that sorry rule, as the group's transformation from the logical successors to the Zombies into one of the finest prog bands of the early '70s is traced out across 19 songs, almost any of which would be a shoo-in for some future "best-of" Argent compilation. It is true, of course, that Argent was prone to excess on occasion -- what is remarkable is just how naturally the band approached that state, as songs build on their own momentum toward peaks that even the best oiled of the group's peers audibly struggled to approach. The combination of Rod Argent's keys and Russ Ballard's words and vocals is, of course, key to this success, and both "Dance in the Smoke" and "Lothlorien" offer firm pointers as to just how tight the union would become. Elsewhere, "Liar," "Schoolgirl," and "Celebration" all have ...
